4. Approval of Tax Rate

1. Approval of 2010-2011 Compensating Tax Rate Enc. 2

The Kentucky Department of Education has forwarded the tax rates to be levied on real and personal property for FY 2010-11. The proposed tax rates are the compensating rates which do not require a hearing. The real estate rate levied in 2009-10 was 55.8 cents per $100 valuation, and the personal property rate levied in 2009-10 was 55.9 cents per $100 valuation. The Motor Vehicle tax rate and the Utility tax rates are the same as last year.

One-tenth of one cent has been added to the property rates due to prior year losses in exonerations.

Real Estate 55.7 cents per $100 valuation Personal/Tangible 55.7 cents per $100 valuation Motor Vehicle 63.5 cents per $100 valuation Utility Gross Receipts Tax 3%

Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Education levy these tax rates for the 2010-2011 school year. 5. Request for One-Year Approval for Adjunct Instructor

Dr. Kim Banta, Principal at Dixie Heights High School, is requesting a one-year approval for Adjunct Instructor to teach two Law Classes for two periods each trimester during the 2010-11 school year. Kathleen Johnson taught these classes during the 2009-10 school year and was certified by EPSB to do so. Ms. Johnson is currently a Law Professor at Chase Law School and has a Statement of Eligibility for teaching Social Studies but must teach at least a half day schedule (3 or more classes) in order to utilize the SOE. Applying for the Adjunct Instructor Certificate will allow Ms. Johnson to be certified by EPSB for the 2010-11 school year and allow her to teach the two classes at DHHS.
