Publications  BSA Guide to Safe Scouting (BSA pub. #34416E) - Includes BSA Youth Protection Policies and safety guidelines for use in Troop activities. Revised periodically. Current version available online at http://www.scouting.org/cgi/gss. Printed hard copy available at council scout shop or at scoutstuff.org  BSA Health and Safety Guide (BSA pub #33415B 2000) - Details Specific BSA policies for ensuring the health and safety of youth while conducting scouting activities. List the forms and applications needed to properly conduct unit activities. Most of the information has now been incorporated in the BSA Guide to Safe Scouting. Each Council has specific reporting requirements based on specific state statute requirements. Available in PDF format at: http://www.scatacook.org/ArticlesAndFlyerss/ChildAbuseReportingRqmts-CT.pdf  Procedures for Maintaining Standards of Membership (Including How to Deal with Child Abuse), (BSA pub #28-105) - This booklet is a guidebook for addressing questions of suitability for membership in the Boy Scouts of America and responses to allegations of child abuse within our membership. It also carefully delineates the procedures that must be followed at the council, regional, and national levels for revoking or denying the registration of ineligible individuals. This publication is prepared specifically for Scout executives and other professional members of the Boy Scouts of America, as well as key volunteers who may be participants in these procedures. Copies can be obtained from the Registration Service at the national office.

Audio-Visual Resources

 “A Time to Tell” Video (BSA # AV-09V004) - Videotape produced by the BSA to educate boys 11 to 14 years of age about sexual abuse. This video introduces the "three R's" of Youth Protection. Boy Scout troops are encouraged to view the video once each year. It is available from your BSA local council. A meeting guide 46-013 (pdf) supporting its use can be found in the Scoutmaster Handbook (beginning with the 1995 edition). Latest version available in DVD format at scoutstuff.org  “Youth Protection Overview” Video (BSA # AV-09V019) - This video illustrates all of the BSA Youth Protection training materials developed by the Boy Scouts of America for adults, as well as for young people 6 to 14 years of age. (Time 7:48; Released 1993)  “Youth Protection Training for Adult Leaders” Video (BSA # AV-09V001A) Video covering Youth Protection issues in a talk show format. It includes many clips from the videos for Scout-aged boys and girls as well as excellent questions to help leaders and parents know what to do in case abuse has occurred in their unit. This video is shown as part of the classroom version of Youth Protection Training for Adult Volunteers.

Audio-Visual Resources  “It Happened To Me” Video (BSA #AV-09V011) - Videotape produced by the BSA to educate boys 6 to 10 years of age about sexual abuse and may only be shown when a parent or other adult responsible for the child's care is present with the child. This video introduces the "three R's" of Youth Protection. Cub Scout packs or dens are encouraged to view the video once each year. A meeting guide 46-012 (pdf) supporting its use can be found in the Cub Leader Book (beginning with the 1994 edition).
