CD CHIVAS USA 2010 Strength & Conditioning/Sports Medicine Internship Program Apply for Internship CD Chivas USA is now accepting applications for the 2010 Spring Semester, Summer Semester, and Fall Semesters for individuals interested in a Strength & Conditioning/Sports Medicine Internship. CD Chivas USA Strength & Conditioning / Sports Medicine Internships allow individuals to put their knowledge into practice while getting the chance to work with professional soccer athletes in Major League Soccer. The length of the internship can be altered to suit the individual’s availability and is at the discretion of the supervisory staff. Intern/Student Strength & Conditioning coaches get the opportunity to work in professional soccer and establish a network with other coaches. Our goal is to expose you to different philosophies and ideas and how they are integrated into our systems of training. We want you to learn how to evaluate the body in a more 3 dimensional format, understanding the entire kinetic chain and prescribing and implementing the best exercises and progressions to meet the individual needs of each athlete. Open your mind about all of the possibilities when training athletes--think outside the box and forget the cookie cutter approach. Daily duties and responsibilities include: facility and weight room maintenance, equipment set-up and break down, stretching, assisting as needed with various aspects of training and testing, and much more. You will be exposed to a variety training conditions. The CD Chivas USA internship program gives preference to seniors and graduate students in an exercise science based curriculum program. Juniors, sophomores, and freshmen can apply but their applications are considered only after the upperclassmen’s applications have been evaluated. Interns will be responsible for all the costs associated with the Strength & Conditioning/Sports Medicine internship program as this is not a paid internship. Chivas USA will work with the individual’s college/university to arrange for college credit. Please, no phone calls. Letter(s) of recommendation from your program director and/or Head Strength Coach. The letter should be a printed personal letter from a supervising certified strength and conditioning specialist. Where: Carson, California (just outside of Los Angeles, CA)

Why: Gain experience, network, and understand coaching professional sports practice setting

Typical Schedule: 8 AM - 3 PM Sunday – Friday and Gamedays

How: CD Chivas USA collects all applications and will contact students directly. Compensation: This is not a paid internship. All interns must make their own arrangements for housing, meals, transportation, etc.
