Fourth Grade Expectations and Behavior System

We know that students will work hard to do the right thing and follow the rules in school. We have put the following system in place to help students continue to work on their behavior and get them back on track if they fall off! This year we will be following a two part system. Below are the details:

Our Expectations Raise your hand Be quiet while others are speaking Respect others and their property Use words not actions Be prepared for class Listen Use “I” Statements Part 1 - Class Dojo Website http://www.classdojo.com/ Purpose – To keep track of student behaviors and keep parents in the loop

 Students will receive a “thumbs up” or a “thumbs down” for both positive and negative behaviors  Parents can log-in daily to view progress each day  A monthly summary of behaviors will be sent home to get signed at the end of every month

Part 2 – Reward System Purpose – To keep track of student behaviors and encourage them to work towards a goal

 A goal number will be chosen each month (goals will get higher as the year continues)  The goal is to receive the month’s goal number or higher of “Great Day” thumbs up  Students who reach the goal may take part in the end-of-the-month activity  Students who do not reach the goal will miss part or all of the activity  Students will automatically be removed from the end-of-month activity for the following reasons: o 3 Missed homework assignments in a month o 2 Think Sheets o A Conduct Report

Consequences Beyond Checks and Letters

1. Certain offenses (i.e. pushing, hitting, bullying, etc) will not follow the above systems, but will be given a consequence that is suitable to the offense at the teacher’s discretion. 2. A Think Sheet is a document students will be asked to fill out for reoccurring issues as well as issues that are more severe than normal. Its purpose is to have students think about their behavior and what they could do differently. 3. A Conduct Report is given for major infractions and is a more formal form shared with the Principal and Counselor. 4. Both Conduct Reports and Think Sheets require a parent signature
