The Barbados Mothers’ Union, a Family Life organisation in the Anglican Church in the Province of the West Indies, will be celebrating its 100th anniversary throughout 23rd June 2013 to 22nd June 2014 and as such we are requesting your permission to facilitate a logo competition to be carried out in the Primary Schools and Sunday Schools of Barbados in the 9-11 year age group. The theme of the logo is ‘Rooted in the Past…..Growing into the Future. The winning logo will be used during the anniversary year at all functions and on all bulletins and newsletters.

The logo from each student is required to be designed on 8 ½ x 11” or A4 paper. Card in these dimensions may be used also. Each participant is required to include a sample of the following colours; blue, green, black and white. It should be noted that the shade of blue and green to be used are found in the Mothers’ Union logo at the top of the entry form. The Mothers’ Union logo at the bottom of the entry form must be included in the logo. The theme must be depicted in each student’s logo for the 2013-2014 period. The deadline for Mother’s Union Logo Competition will be the 31st December 2012.

1. Entries must be submitted by an individual.

2. Only entries done by amateurs will be accepted.

3. Logos must be no larger than 8 ½”x 11” in size.

4. Entries may be drawn using crayons, paint, coloured pencils or markers.

5. Logos must be submitted to the 100th Anniversary Event Planning Committee, Barbados Mothers’ Union, Mandeville House no later than 31st December 2012.

6. Late entries will not be accepted.

7. The poster should convey the theme “Rooted in the Past…..Growing into the Future”.

8. Individuals may submit multiple entries if so desired.

9. All entries must be accompanied by: Designer’s name; age; address; telephone number(s); Church and written interpretation of the submitted design in 200 words or less.

10. All submitted work must be accompanied by signed consent from a parent or guardian in order for the entry to be considered.

11. Entries must be new and original works. Entrants must warrant that their submitted entries are not a violation of any copyright laws.

12. The decision of the judging panel is final and may not be appealed.

13. Winners will be announced via the print or electronic media.

14. Photographs taken may be used in the print or electronic media.

15. The copyright of the chosen design will reside with the Mothers’ Union in the Anglican Diocese.

16. The entrant shall be acknowledged as the creator of the work and is permitted to identify her/himself as such, in accordance with section 14, 15 and 16 of the Copyright Act 1998. 17. Entrants to this competition, by submitting their works into the competition, agree to be bound by all the rules and regulations associated with the competition. Failure to comply

with the rules will result in the entry being disqualified.

Entries must be submitted to 100th Anniversary Event Planning Committee, Barbados Mothers’ Union, The Diocese of Barbados, Mandeville House, Henry’s Lane, St. Michael, Barbados on or before 31st December, 2012. The winning piece of artwork will be used during the anniversary year at all functions and on all bulletins and newsletters.
