PreCalculus 2015-2016 Teacher: Mrs. Carpenter Room: G-207 Email: [email protected] School Web Site: http://ogorman.sfcss.org Phone: School: (605)336-3644 Google Classroom:https://classroom.google.com/ Classroom Code: k9q2v5z Materials: Every day you are required to bring your textbook, notes, paper, graphing calculator, and pencils to class--I do not provide these. A Graphing Calculator is required. If you must purchase a new graphing calculator the TI-84 is the calculator that is used for all O’Gorman math courses. The TI-92, TI-NSpire CAS, and TI-89 may not be used during a test or quiz (or on tests like the ACT.) Grading: Grading will be based on scores from: Grading 100 - Point Chapter Test 100-93 A 50 – Point Unit Quizzes 92-85 B 10 – Point Daily Scores 84-77 C At least one book assignment will be checked. 76-69 D At the end of the semester, the lowest 50 point quiz score and the lowest 10 68 or less F point daily score will be dropped, if it helps the student’s overall percentage. The cumulative semester final will account for 10% of the grade each semester. Missed Quizzes and Test: Students are expected to take test at the scheduled day and time. Students who miss the assigned test time may be required to take an alternate form of the test. If you miss a test or quiz and have been absent for only one day, the day of the test or quiz, you will be expected to make up the test or quiz the day you return or before school the following day. For example, a missed quiz on Monday must be made up before 1st period on Wednesday.

Students who will miss class due to a school event are expected to complete work before the school absent occurs unless an arrangement has been made with the teacher.

Absences: Student are responsible to find out about any missed notes, information, assignments, and/or tests, and to insure that work missed during an excused absence is made up in time to receive full credit. All assignments are on my O’Gorman web page and Google Classroom.

Homework: Homework will be collected randomly. Although the homework papers are not always graded, it is critical to do the homework every day. Failing to do the homework, or falling behind in the homework, is a critical error.

Retakes: Students who score a D or an F on a 100 point Chapter Test may REQUEST to re-take the exam. Students may only retake one exam per semester. The student’s revised score would be the average of the two exam scores with a maximum score of 77. All request are subject to approval by the teacher and must be completed no later than two weeks after the original test. Extra Credit: Students may turn in UPC code from a Texas Instruments Graphing Calculator (3 points). Students may earn a maximum of 6 points per semester. In addition, many test and quizzes contain a bonus question. Bonus points scored in this manner will be added directly to the test/quiz score. Students who take a test/quiz early or late will not be eligible for bonus points.
