PRIZES Champion P 25,000.00 and Gold Medal Runner-up P 15,000.00 and Silver Medal

1. Consolation prize of P 2,000.00 each to non-winners 2. Certificates of Appreciation to all contestants 3. Trophies to water district regional association represented by the winners 4. Trophies to schools represented by the winners

CONTEST RULES 1. The contest is open to all bona fide elementary and high school students in cities and municipalities with established water districts. He / She must be the adjudged winner of the water district level eliminations and the winner of the regional level competitions sponsored by the Regional Water District Association where the water district he/she represents is a member. For areas where there are Provincial Water District Associations, a contestant must be the winner in three competitions – water district, provincial and regional.

2. All participants must be at the place of the contests at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time.

3. Participants must wear their school ID on the day of the contest for official identification purposes.

4. The contestants will draw lots for their respective numbers. They shall not be identified by name or school but by number.

5. The game is played in a five-round format: Easy, Average, Difficult, Semi-Final and Clincher.

6. Points are scored by whoever gives the correct answer. There is no point subtraction for wrong answers.

7. In Easy, Average, Difficult and Semi-Final rounds, contestants must write their answers in the answer boards provided.

8. Questions are worth the following points: Easy (10 questions) = 3 points each Average (10 questions) = 5 points each Difficult (5 questions) = 10 points each 4th PAWD NATIONAL SCIENCE AND MATH QUIZ

9. Contestants will be given a maximum of ten (10) seconds to furnish their answers except for mathematical items in which contestants are given thirty (30) seconds to provide their answers.

10. The top four (4) contestants with the highest garnered scores will proceed to the Semi-Final Round.

11. The Semi-Final Round will have 10 questions worth one (1) point each. All scores will be back to zero.

12. The top two (2) contestants to gather the most number of points will proceed to the Clincher Round.

13. For the Clincher Round, categories will be provided for the two finalists to choose from. Whoever gives the correct answer will have the opportunity to choose the next category. The electronic response system (buzzer) is used during this round.

14. The Clincher Round will have 10 questions worth one (1) point each. All scores will be back to zero. Whoever garners the highest number of points will be declared the champion.

15. In case of a tie, a tie-breaker question will be given. The contestant who gives the correct answer first will be declared the champion.

16. All contestants will be encouraged to attend to their personal needs prior to the start of the contest proper.

17. Children, brothers and sisters of the water districts’ board of directors and employees shall be ineligible to join:

18. Deadline for the submission of names of official regional contestants to the PAWD Office is on December 23, 2014.

19. The National Level Contest Coordinator, a representative from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and a representative from the Department of Education (Dep.Ed.) will comprise the three-member Board of Evaluators. The decision of the Board of Evaluators will be final.
