Russell, Jr., who at eightyfive years 23 old still serves as chairman of the board, started the company from 24 scratch in 1965 with an idea and hard work. Having worked for 25 another real estate agency in Columbia for eight years, Bob 26 Russell began his own company at the age of thirtyfive, along with 27 his wife, who worked as secretary, and one salesman. The first 28 topoftheline salesman Bob Russell hired was the late Abb Jeffcoat. 29 Bob eventually made Abb his sales manager and sold him a 30 twentyfive percent share in his company. A few years later, he 31 gave Abb another twentyfive percent share, making him a full 32 partner; and 33 34 Whereas, Bob Russell and Abb Jeffcoat have made Russell & 35 Jeffcoat not only the numberone real estate company in the 36 Midlands but also one of the largest in the Southeast. With 37 reputation, integrity, and honesty as the company’s cornerstones, 38 Russell & Jeffcoat continues to uphold a tradition of performance 39 and success; and 40 41 Whereas, further, Bob Russell’s and Abb Jeffcoat’s dedication to 42 the service of others has not gone unappreciated. In 1996, they

[3962] 2 1 received the Order of the Palmetto, the highest civilian honor 2 awarded by the State of South Carolina; and 3 4 Whereas, the two men maintained a longstanding business 5 partnership until Abb passed away in 2011. From developing and 6 marketing subdivisions to working with economic leaders for the 7 purpose of bringing new business to the area, Bob and Abb have 8 been instrumental in helping Columbia grow and prosper; and 9 10 Whereas, appreciative of its significant contributions to the 11 prosperity of the Palmetto State, the General Assembly takes great 12 pleasure in honoring Russell & Jeffcoat Real Estate and its 13 dynamic entrepreneurial heart, Bob Russell, on the occasion of the 14 company’s fiftieth anniversary. Now, therefore, 15 16 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate 17 concurring: 18 19 That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this 20 resolution, recognize Russell & Jeffcoat Real Estate at the 21 celebration of its fiftieth anniversary and congratulate the agency 22 on half a century of outstandingly successful entrepreneurial 23 endeavors. 24 25 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to 26 Russell & Jeffcoat Real Estate. 27 XX 28
