1990-2005: Emergency Medicine Grand Rounds/Lecture Series As faculty in the LSU emergency medicine residency program, I lectured for one hour approximately eight times per year. Each lecture required approximately three hours of preparatory time. The audience included approximately 30 residents and five medical students during their elective month in emergency medicine.

1995-2005: Medical-Legal Lecture Series Along with a colleague, I coordinated a quarterly lecture series for LSU emergency medicine residents on medical-legal topics. The audience included approximately 30 residents and five medical students during their elective month in emergency medicine. I lectured for one hour, four times per year. Each lecture required approximately three hours of preparatory time.

1996-2005: Introduction to Health Law (MD-MPH Program, LSUHSC-UNO joint program): I served as a lecturer in this annual course to medical students in the MPH program. I lectured annually on managed care liability, fraud, and tort reform. I lectured for three hours, once per year, to approximately 20 medical students. Each lecture required 1-2 hours of preparatory time.

1997-2005: Health Law Curriculum, LSU School of Law I served on a planning committee at LSU Law School to develop a health law curriculum. We began teaching “Introduction to Health Law” in the spring 1999 semester at the law school to second and third year law students (I gave 20-25% of the lectures in this course). I delivered 4-5 lectures, one semester each year, each lecture lasting 90 minutes, to approximately 60 law students. Each lecture required approximately three hours of preparatory time.

1999-2005: LSU Medical School GME Lecture Series I gave an annual lecture on the liability crisis to LSU house officers. I lectured for one hour, to approximately 60 residents and five faculty. Each lecture required approximately two hours of preparatory time.

2004-2005: Loyola University School of Law (I taught in the course “Law and Medicine” to senior law students). I presented two lectures, one semester per year, for two years, to approximately 80 law students. Each lecture required 2-3 hours of preparatory time.

2006-pres: Legal/Professional Lecture Series, University of Maryland Together with an emergency medicine colleague, I coordinate monthly lectures on legal and professional topics at emergency medicine Larry D WeissPage 11

grand rounds. Since 2014 this lecture series only included legal lectures, presented approximately four times per year.

Clinical Instruction, Residents and Students

1982-pres: I have always maintained full-time clinical responsibilities as a faculty attending physician in the emergency department; 1982-1990 at the University of Pittsburgh, and 1990-2006 at Charity Hospital. This involved direct patient care as well as clinical instruction of residents and medical students. From 2006 until the present time I perform my clinical teaching responsibilities in the emergency department at the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Seaberg DC, Weiss LD. The effect of albumen and alpha-acid glycoprotein infusions on nortriptyline toxicity in pigs. Emergency Medicine Foundation (private peer-reviewed foundation), Resident Research Grant, 1988 ($5000 total grant) I served as faculty supervisor and co-investigator. Dr. Seaberg served as PI. I provided 1/3 of bench work.

I completed all of the grant applications and provided about 20% of the research effort (less than 10% of my total time.).
