Outcome 2

Perform blown film extrusion process operations.

Evidence requirements

2.1 The equipment on the blown film extrusion line is identified, and the purpose, and the sequence of their operation are explained in terms of the blown film extrusion process.

Range equipment includes but is not limited to: extruder, die, air ring, tower, bubble collapsing frame, top nip assembly, winder, screen changer, resin handling equipment.

2.2 Simple roll changing is performed.

2.3 Extrusion operations are performed and records are maintained.

Range extrusion operations may include – product removal, product finishing, product packaging.

2.4 Quality inspections are carried out, recorded, and reported.

Range visual and surface defects include – gels, die lines, scratches, haze, opacity, fish eyes; measurements – under or over gauge; surface treatment.

2.5 Raw materials are verified against job specifications and are loaded without damage to plant or material, or injury to self or other personnel.

2.6 The emergency stop locations on the film extrusion line and ancillary equipment are identified and emergency stopping of the film extrusion line and ancillary equipment is described.
