Chief of Staff: Will serve as one of the President’s top advisors on the variety of goals and initiatives put forth by the President’s office, while serving as the senior executive to the staff. The individual in this position will work to ensure that any and all SGA resources and man power are used effectively through the delegation of tasks and event planning. From an external perspective the COS will also directly oversee the members of the Communication team ensuring that SGA maintains a solid public persona.
New Media Specialist: Will work to implement the media strategy through the mediums of the SGA web site, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other video outlets. This position is critical to the mission of ensuring that SGA maintains a current and student friendly persona. As a result this position is very time intensive.
Press Secretary: Duties include drafting press releases necessary to communicate the SGA message, and building press relationships. These press relationships do extend into the overall local community but the Press Secretary’s primary focus is on building and maintaining a healthy business relationship with student media outlets as they are another of the strongest extensions of the student voice.
Marketing Specialist/Graphic Design: Will be responsible for developing and producing images, designs, advertisements and photos to promote SGA information. This position will have considerable input on the types of advertising used, but will also be the spearhead for the design of each advertisement.
Director of Outreach: Will be involved in this year’s initiative to dramatically increase voter turnouts in SGA elections. This director is primarily responsible for the construction and implementation of this year’s outreach strategy to increase student involvement in SGA by facilitating relationships among various organizations. The Director of Outreach will also oversee the outreach team, which consists of the Multicultural Associate the Greek Liaison, and Commuter Relations. Delegation is key, for the individual holding this position, as all students should idealistically be reached in some form or fashion.
Multicultural Associates: The two staffers occupying these positions will work under the Director of Outreach and are each responsible for increasing voter turnouts among diverse organizations, fostering a relationship among various cultural student organizations and the cultural center, communicating the organizations’ interest to the SGA and working to bridge any communication gaps that have existed in the past with such organizations.
Commuter Relations Associate: Will work under the Director of Outreach and is responsible for carrying out efforts within the commuter and nontraditional community on campus to establish a better working relationship between the Student Government Association and these students. The commuter relations associate will work on increasing voter turnouts among this community, obtaining information on commuter and nontraditional interest, and communicating the material to SGA. This position is crucial to the work of this administration as commuter students make up such a strong majority of the student population. Greek Liaisons: These two staffers will work under the Director of Outreach and are each responsible for researching and voicing Greek interests, needs and concerns to the SGA. Despite the number of Greeks holding SGA and Senate positions, many Greek organizations have disproportionately less representation. These positions were created with that consideration in mind, so that all Greek organizations might receive adequate representation.
Student Athletic Director: Will serve as the SGA liaison to the University of Louisville Athletics Association (ULAA) and will be responsible for voicing student interests. Also the SAD will lead the ticket allocation process, serve on the ULAA board of directors and work to develop strategies to increase school spirit and student participation in athletic events.
Political Director: Will work primarily as a lead SGA representative. Responsibilities of this position include ensuring that sound relations with RSO’s exist, the overall goals/efforts of the SGA are publicly known and being a spearhead for the carrying out of any and all politically inclined SGA initiatives or events.
Electoral Director: Will be responsible for briefing the executives on legislation related to higher education. The electoral director will be part of a new initiative to establish U of L as a voting base by registering students and educating them on legislative matters while fostering relationships with local, state, and federally elected leaders. Specific duties include organizing events such as the Rally for Higher Education, Listen Up Legislators and other strategic events related to higher education. Additionally this director will oversee the work of an electoral associate.
Electoral Associate: Will work as a direct extension of the Electoral Director’s efforts to carry out the goals and initiatives relating to higher education information and events. This individual will assist in voter registration, one on one communication with students and the orchestration of events such as Rally for Higher Education or Listen Up Legislators.
Assistant to the President: Will work with the president on a daily basis on matters of organization and correspondence. The assistant to the president will also work closely with the chief of staff on various administrative tasks to ensure that any and all goals of the President’s Office are seen through to a conclusion.
Assistant Executive Vice President: The EVP will largely be focusing on campus leadership (including RSO relations), community service, budget reform and oversight. The assistant will be largely integral in accomplishing goals and tasks related to these areas as he/she will work to ensure that communication and dissemination of information is handled in a professional and timely matter in regard to the business of the Senate.
Assistance Academic Vice President: Will perform a variety of tasks assigned by the AVP. The duties will consist of researching academic advancements, writing reports, and attending meetings with faculty and staff. Additionally this assistant will work as a funnel for information coming from the university community, regarding academics, to ensure that the AVP may at all times truly represent the interests and concerns of the student body. Assistant Services Vice President: This assistant will sit on various service-oriented committees, and assist with various outreach programs specific to student services. The individual working within this position will exist to facilitate the work of the SVP, by helping with organization and communication.
