FCAT Reading and Math TENTH GRADE Test Administrator Procedures

1. STUDENTS AND PROCTORS WILL REPORT TO TEST ROOMS AT APPROXIMATELY 7:50. a. Report to your first period, a PA announcement (approx. 7:45) will dismiss all students to their test sites/holding areas. b. Seat students alphabetically. c. Please VERIFY students’ identification – you will have student “picture pages” to help identify students without ID’s. d. If a student does not have an id, their picture does not appear on the picture page and you cannot identify them, but they are on your roster – reserve a seat for them and send them to the SCIENCE OFFICE (Room 279) (if this location changes, we will notify you over the pa), where their identity will be confirmed. They will return to you with a pass. If they do not return, please notify your relief proctor.

A seating chart must be completed for each room. You may do this once the test has begun. A form is provided for you.

2. TEST MATERIALS a. Test Materials will be delivered to you by your relief proctor. b. Count ALL answer documents and test books and initial distribution sheet. c. Please secure the test materials out of sight and out of reach, until it is time to test.

3. ROSTER & SECURITY BAR CODE a. Record attendance, (write A for absent only, no need to write P for present) only students on your roster should be in your room. Verify that there is an answer document for every student listed on your roster. IF A STUDENT IS ON YOUR ROSTER, BUT THERE IS NO ANSWER DOCUMENT FOR THAT STUDENT, REPORT IT TO A RELIEF PROCOTOR IMMEDIATELY. b. Begin distributing the pencils, calculators, test books and answer sheets as soon as all students are in the room and seated. c. For the Reading and Math test dates, there is only ONE test book. You will have a Reading answer folder on Monday and a Math answer folder on Tuesday. Record the security bar code for Reading/Math SSS Test book for PRESENT students only in the space provided on the roster. A security bar code must be recorded for every student present. d. THERE IS NO SECURITY BAR CODE FOR THE READING ANSWER DOCUMENTS. e. On Tuesday – Record the answer folder number FOR EACH STUDENT ABSENT AND PRESENT. f. Please record the daily attendance on the roster provided. It will be collected by the relief proctor each day. g. Answer sheets for absent students should be placed in the folder marked DO NOT SCORE folder. The DO NOT SCORE folder must be secured out of sight and out of reach. Place all unused test books in the box in sequential order lowest to greatest. NOTE: Answer documents and test books must be handed to and collected from each student individually by the proctor.

4. CONDUCTING THE TEST – a. Instructions will be read over the PA, however in the event of an emergency, refer to your FCAT administrator’s manual. In the event that you have to read instructions the relief proctor will notify you. b. When directed to do so, students will have to fill in the top two lines of the writing folder. Please write Miami-Dade County and American High School on the board. c. Proctors need to walk around during the test to make sure the students are following correct test procedures. d. If a student needs to leave the room during the test, the test documents must be collected and held until the student returns –only one student out of the room at a time. e. At no time can students be left in the room unsupervised.

CLASS CODE Students will need to fill out a class code ON THE BACK of their answer book. A class code list has been provided for you. Codes are assigned by room number. The Instructions will prompt the students to write this code. The same class code will be filled in for EACH session. Remember that the students will be using the SAME TEST BOOK both days of testing. A student who is absent the first day, may be present the second day and you will need to record their Test book number in the security log. It is OK if the numbers are out of sequence. DO NOT record a test book number if a student is ABSENT.

5. CONCLUDING THE TEST a. Please collect the test books and answer documents from each student individually. b. Place completed answer documents in the TO BE SCORED folder. c. Please collect all reference sheets and place in folder provided. d. If a student was absent for one part of the test, please place their test book and answer document in the appropriate folder. e. If all answer and test documents are not returned to you at the end of the test, press the emergency button immediately and call for security and an administrator. f.
