JOB PROFILE

Post: - IT Manager

Accountable to: - Director of Organisational Development and Support Services

Responsible to: - Head of Operations

Location: - Little Hulton

Pay Scale: - Band 6

Job Role / Purpose  To manage the operations of the Hospice and Trading Company IT systems  To supervise the work of the IT Assistant.

Main Duties  To manage the Helpdesk function, ensuring all tickets are responded to in a timely manner.  To respond to all escalated tickets.  To liaise with external hardware and software providers on any faults or issues.  To provide out of hours cover.  To maintain all networks and systems, ensuring minimum downtime.  To ensure adequate back up and disaster recovery procedures are in place at all times.  To ensure that adequate anti-virus protection and security procedures are in place at all times.  To perform regular health checks on all systems and networks.  To oversee the schedule of system maintenance tasks on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.  To line manage the IT Assistant, providing mentoring and learning opportunities where possible.  To hold the budget for the IT department and to work with the Head of Finance to actively keep costs within budget.  To maintain a library of documents outlining policies and procedures for the IT department.  To maintain a secure database of user names and passwords for all systems and to ensure that these are regularly changed.  To contribute to the development of IT strategy by the provision of specialist knowledge.  To attend committee meetings to update colleagues on IT activity and developments where appropriate.  To be responsible for all activities to maintain the hospice PCI compliance.  To be responsible for the IT activities surrounding Information Governance.

The Hospice will aim to provide relevant education and development opportunities whenever possible, as agreed in your Individual Performance Review.

Special Conditions

The post holder will be based at Little Hulton and there is a requirement to visit and work at the other sites on a regular basis.

There will be a requirement to carry out work out of normal office hours, e.g. to perform server/application upgrades.

This job description will be regularly reviewed and may be amended in consultation with the post holder to reflect developments. The post holder will be subject to regular individual performance reviews and the job description along with the Hospice Business Plan will be used as a basis for determining objectives.
