The Watsons Go to Birmingham Final Project

Choose one of the following options:

1. Create a collage for The Watsons Go to Birmingham. Cut out various pictures and phrases that represent characters and/or events in the book. Your collage should include numerous pictures, fill a large piece of paper, and show understanding of the book. Be sure you have access to magazines for this option. I will provide some, but I may not have enough.

2. Write an essay using one of the following as your guide. Your paper must be typed in 12 point Times New Roman and should be double spaced. Your essay should be 300-400 words.  You are Byron. After seeing how gullible your brother and sister are, you decide to try your stories on another victim. Create a larger than life legend you plan to tell to unsuspecting children embellishing the story of the Wool Pooh.  You are Kenny. You are sick and tired of getting teased at school. Write a letter to the principal describing the bullying that is going on in the school and how you feel it should be stopped.  You are Byron. Your have just returned from Alabama a changed person. Write Grandma Sands a letter expressing your feelings about how you have changed and why.

3. Over the course of novel, Byron undergoes large changes. Create a visual product showing that change. Your product should have an image of Byron at the beginning and ending of the book. These images should be surrounded by words describing the character in the beginning and end. In between these images should be a detailed list of events that led to the change. You will be graded on neatness, amount of specific content from the book, and evident understanding of how the character changed.
