Magical Fairy Door Instructions
Thank you for choosing one of my Magical Fairy Door kits. These kits are very simple to use and lots of fun to make, I hope you enjoy lots of magical moments when your door is complete! This activity is a wonderful opportunity to relax and enjoy some positive interaction between parent and child. It is important to remember, however, that this should be a child led activity, so do allow your special little Fairy/Pixie to place their decorations where they would like and let go of the need to control this activity. We are not aiming for you to finish up with a perfect pretty door that you have designed but a creation that is as individual as your little one! If your creative urge is too strong and you really must have a perfectly co-ordinated project, may I suggest you also make another Fairy door just for you!? You’re never too old to believe in Fairies!!
Right then let’s get started…
You will need:
Your Fairy Door craft kit
Some PVA glue
A small paintbrush
1) Colour your door using either the wax crayons or felt tipped pens provided (this will depend on your choice of kit). Really work the colour into every part of the door.
2) You may decide to use 2 coats to increase the depth of colour. 3) Dip the paintbrush into the pva glue and use to add the embellishments of your choice.
4) Finally add some magical fairy glitter to give your door added sparkle
5) Choose a special corner in your room and position your door carefully. Let the magic begin!!
How to use your fairy Door
Fairy Doors are a wonderful tool to help your child expand their imagination. Fairies provide all kinds of imaginative play and craft opportunities. Based on pure fantasy (or is it?) the concept of fairies has been enchanting young children for centuries. And who wouldn't be excited by the idea of pretty little winged creatures, fluttering around and spreading magic?!
Explain to your child that now you have a magical door, if they are lucky, real fairies and pixies will come and use the doors, and that the doors probably lead to either a magical fairy house or fairyland etc... Encourage your child to make some pictures of fairies and cut them out and leave them out next to the door.
You could leave a chocolate coin with a note thanking your child for their new door(on behalf of the Fairies) If you write in tiny letters on flimsy paper it looks very fairy like and children get very excited! You could even leave a trail of fairy dust from their door to some hidden “fairy treasure”. Let your own imagination loose, as the possibilities are limitless when you’re having fun.
Please encourage your child to show me their finished door and share any magical experiences, via the website or post your photos on my FaceBook page.
With much love, gratitude and Fairy wishes
