1 Purpose The purpose of this document is to describe the process of returning goods back to the supplying plant. Target group are buyers, warehouse employees, and accounting clerks.

Scope item The Supplier Returns in ERP- Advanced Returns Management business process comprises two scope items; return shipment to an external vendor and return to another location or DC. This document deals with the store return to another location or DC, return to an external vendor is subject matter of document BPD 739 (Return to Vendor). The returns stock transport order is similar to a standard purchase order but with functionalities of advanced returns management.

Process flow The store returns to another location or DC process flow comprises the following process steps: . Create a returns stock transport order To initiate a return to vendor, you create a returns stock transport order either with reference to an earlier purchase order or without reference.

. Create an outbound delivery and post goods issue To initiate the shipment to the vendor you create the outbound delivery from the existing returns stock transport order. You post the goods issue after picking in the warehouse.

. Create an inbound delivery and post receipt The system creates an inbound delivery automatically when you post the goods issue from the outbound delivery. After the goods have arrived you post the goods receipt by processing the inbound delivery.

. Enter results of an article inspection in the warehouse You perform the article inspection for the inbound delivery in the receiving plant.

. Monitor the returns to another location or DC business process This transaction allows you to monitor all the documents associated with a returns to another location or DC business transaction and to check the overall processing status, the logistical processing status, and the refunding status.

2 Prerequisites

2.3 Roles

Use The roles listed in the table below must be assigned to your logon user to be able to test this business process in the NetWeaver Business Client (NWBC). You only need these roles if you use the NWBC interface. You do not need them if you use the standard SAP GUI.

2.4 Preliminary Steps 2.4.1 Preparing available Stock for Returns

Use Before you can start with the returns process you must make sure that you have stock available that you can return. Accordingly check the stock situation for the relevant articles in the Store M001 or any other relevant location. If there is no stock for relevant articles you can enter initial stock in the system using transaction MIGO.

Procedure

1. Access the activity using one of the navigation options:

3. Choose Execute (F8).

4. Review your stock in SLoc 1000 in the overview Display Warehouse Stocks of Article.

5. If sufficient stock is available for your test proceed with the next chapter. If not proceed with step 6.

6. Access the transaction choosing one of the following navigation options:

4 Process Steps

4.1 Creating a Returns Stock Transport Order

Use To trigger the store returns process you create a returns stock transport order.

Result You have created a returns stock transport order to return goods to a supplying plant.

4.2 Returns Overview for Supplier Returns

Use With the Returns Overview for Supplier Returns transaction you monitor the progress of your supplier returns processes that is your return to vendor and store returns processes. The Returns Overview screen comprises four areas. In the selection screen area, you enter appropriate selection criteria to select the supplier returns processes you want to monitor. A supplier returns process is represented by the initial purchasing document (in this case it is the returns stock transport order). In the area on the right the result of you selection is displayed. The Header List contains the purchasing documents that meet your selection criteria. The Item List show the items of the purchasing document selected in the header list. The Detail Tree displays all the return steps associated with a purchasing document item that you have selected in the item list. At this stage of the store return process you control the creation of the returns stock transport order. In addition, you can check which the next steps in the process are.

Procedure 1. Choose Execute. 4. Choose Hide Selection Criteria (optional). 5. Check the data displayed in the header and item list and the detail tree.

Double-click the Returns Stock Transport Order in returns step sub screen or click the hyperlink on the document number to navigate to the returns stock transport order and to check details of this document (optional). 7. Choose Back (F3) to the SAP Easy Access screen (SAP GUI). Or Choose Exit (Shift+F3) to close the transaction.

You can navigate to all documents in the returns process by double clicking the returns step or by clicking the hyperlink on the document number.

Result A supplier returns process is represented by the initial purchasing document (in this case is it the returns stock transport order). The next step is now to create the outbound delivery for the returns stock transport order.

4.3 Creating an Outbound Delivery for Returns Stock Transport Order

Use To initiate the shipment to another location you create the outbound delivery for the existing returns stock transport order.

Procedure 1. Access the transaction choosing one of the following navigation options: Option 1: SAP Graphical User Interface (SAP GUI) SAP ECC menu Logistics  Retailing Merchandise Logistics Logistics Execution  Outbound Process  Goods Issue for Outbound Delivery  Outbound Delivery  Create Collective Processing of Documents Due for Delivery  Purchase Orders Transaction code VL10B Option 2: SAP NetWeaver Business Client (SAP NWBC) via Business Role Business role Warehouse Clerk (SAP_NBPR_WAREHOUSECLERK_S) Business role menu Warehouse Management  Shipping  Delivery Due Purchase Orders Due for Delivery 2. Select purchase orders from the list. Choose Create Delivery in Background (Shift + F7). 7. Choose Show/Hide Delivery (Shift + F8), and note down the outbound delivery number shown in the SD Doc. field: ______. 8. Choose Back (F3) to the SAP Easy Access screen (SAP GUI). Or Choose Exit (Shift+F3) to close the transaction.

4.4 Returns Overview for Supplier Returns

Use At this stage of the store return to another location or DC process you control the creation of the outbound delivery for the returns stock transport order. In this step, you can check the progress of your returns process.

Procedure Please refer to the procedure description in chapter 4.2.

Result You can see the returns step Outbound Delivery with processing status Document complete indicates that you still have to ship the articles to the DC. The next step is now the Post Goods Issue for the outbound delivery related to the returns stock transport order as part of the returns delivery processing.

4.5 Post Goods Issue for Outbound Delivery

Use You post goods issue after creation the outbound delivery.

Procedure 1. Result You have posted the goods issue for the outbound delivery. Subsequently the system has automatically created an inbound delivery for the receiving plant.

4.6 Returns Overview for Supplier Returns

Use At this stage of the store return to another location or DC process you control the creation of the goods movement and inbound delivery document for the returns stock transport order. In this step, you can check the progress of your returns process.

Procedure Please refer to the procedure description in chapter 4.2.

Result You see that a Goods Issue has been posted for the outbound delivery. If you want to analyze details of the outbound delivery double-click on Goods Issue document. The Inbound Delivery has been created automatically. The next step would be to post Goods Receipt for the inbound delivery.

4.7 Post Goods Receipt

Use You post goods receipt when articles arrive in the receiving plant.

Procedure 1. Access the transaction choosing one of the following navigation options: Option 1: SAP Graphical User Interface (SAP GUI) SAP ECC menu Logistics  Retailing Merchandise Logistics Logistics Execution  Inbound Process  Goods Receipt for Inbound Delivery  Inbound Delivery Change  Single Document Transaction code VL32N

On the Change Inbound Delivery screen, enter the inbound delivery number. 3. Choose Post Goods Receipt.

Result Goods receipt document is issued, a system message “IC Returns Delivery XXXXXXXX has been saved” appears at the bottom of the screen.

4.8 Returns Overview for Supplier Returns

Use At this stage of the store return to another location or DC process you control the creation of the goods receipt document. In this step, you can check the progress of your returns process.

Procedure Please refer to the procedure description in chapter 4.2.

Result After the goods are arrived at the DC and after the Goods Receipt posting, the goods will be inspected and follow up decisions made. The next step would be an article inspection in the warehouse or DC.

4.9 Entering Article Inspection in Warehouse

Use You perform the article inspection for the inbound delivery in the receiving plant. You can enter a single inspection result for the whole inbound delivery at header level, or you can enter different inspection results at item level. You can even split an item if the inspection reveals that different quantities of the returned article have different article statuses. Procedure 1. Result You have entered the follow-up activity depending on the decisions that have been made and follow-on documents have been created automatically. If you selected to transfer the goods to free available stock a goods movement has been posted. For the first item, you can see that all the traffic lights are green and the overall Processing Status is Process complete. The stock is posted into unrestricted-use stock. For the second item, you can see that all the traffic lights are green and the overall Processing Status is Process complete. A stock transfer order Send back to previous site is created. For the third item, you can see that the process Ship to other site is complete and all documents have been created. During inspection we decided to ship the articles back to the vendor and the returns order with order type NB2 is created. The overall Processing Status is Process incomplete due the status of the Ship to Vendor process. For follow-on steps see process 739 ship to vendor.

Advanced Returns from Warehouse to Vendor

For this activity, run the 739 – Advanced Returns from warehouse to vendor scope item document from step 4.2, using the master data from this scope item document. Note that we are not using WM picking in this instance and thus the pick quantities must be entered manually into the delivery。 And the step 4.5 can be skipped.
