FRESHMEN ORIENTATION

Freshmen Class of 2018 Orientation The beginning of a new school year brings about many changes and some additional reservations when students make the move to a new school. Our goal at Brunswick High School is to make this transition for freshmen as seamless as possible. Brunswick High School’s LINK Crew will welcome the Class of 2018 on Wednesday, August 13th. (See Freshmen Orientation Information Letter for more information regarding times and location.) Orientation is designed to help familiarize the incoming Freshmen with BHS by introducing them to some of our upperclassmen, giving them a tour of BHS, showing them where their lockers are, getting their schedules, and just getting to know the other incoming Freshmen. It is expected that students will stay for the entire orientation and tour. Freshmen Orientation will be held in the East Cafeteria on Wednesday, August 13 as follows: Students with last name A-L report 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon. Students with last name M-Z report 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Students will not be permitted to attend at a different time than what has been assigned. August 13th will be a “black out” date – ie. no other clubs, activities, or sports will be meeting on this date. Freshmen Orientation Day is an important day, and we look forward to seeing you all there! Parents do not attend Freshman Orientation with their students. Parents of incoming Freshmen are asked to attend a Parent Meeting on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the PAC.

NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION

Rachel’s Challenge is again doing New Student Orientation for students in Grades 10, 11, 12 who are new to BHS. It will be held Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. Students should report to Room 215 in the Center. Students will be introduced to other BHS students who will give them a tour of BHS, showing them where their lockers are and helping them find their classrooms. A pizza lunch will be provided.

SCHEDULE AND BOOK PICK-UP FOR STUDENTS

Students will be able to come to school to pick up their schedules and books as follows (Student ID required for schedule and book pick up): Tuesday, August 12, 2014 Grades 10 – 12 Time: 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2014 Grade 9 A - L Time: 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2014 Grade 9 M - Z Time: 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 14, 2014 Grades 10 – 12 Time: 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. No book check out on Friday, August 15th. Students who do not check out textbooks during the above times will be responsible to check out their textbooks during school. All Student Information Forms must be competed in order for students to check out books/receive schedules.

BHS OPEN HOUSE

Please join us for the BHS Open House on Monday, August 18th from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. as we kick off the 2014-2015 school year. The building will be open for parents to come in and meet the teachers. This will NOT be done on a bell schedule. Please remember to bring a copy of your student’s schedule.

PARKING PASS INFORMATION

Parking Permits will again be $45. Applications will be available online in August on the BHS webpage. Parking Passes will be available beginning August 7, 2014. Students must bring their completed and signed application along with the car registration. All unpaid fees must be paid in the Athletic Office with Mrs. Caso before a Parking Permit can be purchased. Seniors will park in the East lot. Parking spaces will NOT be numbered this year, thus parking will be random as is done in the West lot. Sophomores and Juniors will park in the West lot.

SCHOOL PICTURES

Ohio School Pictures will be at BHS on Friday, August 22nd to take school pictures for students in grades 9 thru 11. Everyone must have a picture taken for the purpose of the school yearbook and student ID’s. Picture retakes will be on Thursday, November 6th.

HOMECOMING 2014

The Homecoming game is scheduled for Friday, September 26th and the Homecoming dance is on Saturday, September 27th. The Homecoming Court for 2014 will consist ONLY of Seniors. Tickets for the Homecoming dance will go on sale beginning the week of September 22nd. BHS does not permit guests/non-BHS students to attend the Homecoming dance. Students must present a student ID in order to purchase a ticket.

PROM 2015

Save the date! Prom will be on Friday, May 15, 2015 from 6-11:00 pm at LaCentre Conference and Banquet Facility in Westlake. The dress is formal, and ticket prices include
