SUMMARY OF DUTIES Investigate and recruit interesting and unique vendors, crafters, artisans; Coordinate enhanced retail and food vendor areas at City festivals; Candidate must be available to work during evening and weekend events

EDUCATION Minimum College Diploma

EXPERIENCE Candidate should be outgoing and have an aptitude for marketing, strong interpersonal and communication skills. Strong organizational and computer skills.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILIITIES (The following sets out the principle functions of the position and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all work requirements.) 1. Program / Services  Creation of vendor recruitment packages for appropriate festivals and sectors  Research of existing festivals, trade shows, craft shows, in Southern Ontario  Creation of vendor recruitment travel strategy for other festivals  Ongoing database creation for vendors in all sectors  Creation of reports for festival boards and committees  Research and cost analysis of City merchandising at festivals  Selection of products to be created for merchandising purposes, determination of margins, and setting of price points (with Treasury)  Creation of detailed workplans – particularly for new vendor areas

Candidate should have an understanding of budget structure and creation, and a working knowledge of spreadsheet software.

4. Material Resources

Carries out work assignments using a variety of office equipment including personal computer, fax machine, photocopier, scanner, shredder and printer. Understanding of visual production equipment and processes an asset.

5. Knowledge

Knowledge and ability to utilize computer programs to create databases, registration packages, desktop publishing, Lotus Notes and Microsoft products. Creation of site maps, and schedules for work. Knowledge of the community, its service clubs, activities, organizations, and businesses an asset. An up to date First Aid and CPR certificate(s) as well as current Smart Serve certification – training may be provided.

6. Physical Skill and Effort

Manual dexterity to operate keyboard, office equipment. Constant periods of visual/mental concentration required. Functions performed in seated, walking, lifting and bending, and standing positions.

7. Decision Making and Judgment

Work is performed in consultation with immediate supervisor. Work is performed in accordance with established policies and procedures. Work is performed on an individual and team perspective.

8. Interpersonal Skills/Contacts

Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with the general public, media outlets, and designers.

Internal: With supervisors and internal staff within own department and other departments to receive instruction and exchange information.

External: With Member of the Board, committee, media, community organizations, government officials and general public.

WORKING CONDITIONS

9. Environment

Works in an office environment and outdoors during special events on a seasonal basis. May be exposed to all types of extreme weather during outdoor events.

10. Control Over Work Schedule

Normal workweek is Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., 35 hours per week. Overtime (time off in lieu of overtime) required on a semi-regular basis for special events including weekends and statutory holidays. Acceptance of work schedule will vary during Special Events Programming. Attendance at all events and assigned duties as required, Tourism Initiatives included.
