CHARLIE HAYKEL, JULIANE HARE, DANETTE HERMAN, GLENN WEISS AND STEVE BASS NAMED TO PRODUCTION TEAM FOR THE “64TH PRIMETIME EMMY® AWARDS”
NoHo Arts District, CA, July 24, 2012 – Charlie Haykel, Juliane Hare, Danette Herman, Glenn Weiss and Steve Bass have been named to the 64th Primetime Emmy® Awards production team, Executive Producer Don Mischer announced today. Haykel will serve as Co-Executive Producer, Hare as Producer, and Herman as Co-Producer on the Emmys. Weiss will once again return to direct the program, while Bass will serve as Production Designer for the telecast, airing live coast-to-coast on Sunday, September 23 rd (8:00 PM ET / 5:00 PM PT) on ABC from the NOKIA Theater L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles.
“I am thrilled to have such an outstanding production team with me again this year,” said Mischer. “Each of these individuals brings the highest level of creativity and experience, and I am excited for us to begin planning the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards.”
Haykel returns for his third year as part of the Primetime Emmys production team. He has more than 20 years of experience and has enjoyed a longstanding working relationship with Mischer for the past 12 years. During that time he has collaborated in the production of such programs as We Are One, the official kickoff to the Obama Inaugural held at the Lincoln Memorial, to the 61st and 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris and Jimmy Fallon, respectively. Haykel recently executive produced Oscars Red Carpet: Live, the official Academy Awards pre-show, on ABC. In addition to serving as an executive producer on 2011 & 2012’s The Comedy Awards, the 2007 Miss America Pageant, and Moving Image Salutes Will Smith, he was also producer on the Super Bowl XXXIX and XL Halftime Shows (featuring Paul McCartney and the Rolling Stones respectively) as well as the 2004 Democratic Convention. Haykel’s other producing credits include the Oxygen series, Dance Your Ass Off, the NBC series The Singing Bee, the ABC primetime series, The Wayne Brady Show, and numerous specials including the 2011 Billboard Music Awards, Movies Rock, Fashion Rocks 5, John Leguizamo’s Sexaholix…A Love Story, Christmas in Washington and The Tony Awards. Haykel was also on the producing teams for the millennium documentary by Steven Spielberg titled The Unfinished Journey and the independent feature films Bad City Blues and Ring Girls.
Producer Juliane Hare has worked on the Atlanta and Salt Lake City Olympic Ceremonies, the Opening Ceremonies of the Special Olympics in Shanghai, five Emmy telecasts, as well as the Super Bowl XXXIX, XL, and XLI Pre-Game and Halftime Shows. Hare recently was Executive Producer of Oscars Red Carpet: Live, the official Academy Awards pre- show on ABC. She was also a producer on the 2011 and 2012 Billboard Music Awards, the 2011 and 2012 Comedy Awards, Movies Rock, Fashion Rocks, the 2007 Miss America Pageant and Moving Image Salutes Will Smith. In 2009, she received a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Children’s Series as a producer of the PBS series From the Top at Carnegie Hall.
Co-Producer Danette Herman has long associations with some of television's biggest productions. This will be her 23rd year as a key member of the Primetime Emmy® production team, having last served as Co-Producer on the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards. Herman served as Coordinating Producer for the Emmy-nominated 34th Kennedy Center Honors, and her recent credits include CNN Heroes, Andrea Bocelli Live in Central Park (Great Performances) and the Emmy- nominated Betty White’s 90th Birthday: A Tribute to America’s Golden Girl.
As Executive Producer of nine Tony Awards and Director of the last 12, Glenn Weiss has received six Primetime Emmy Awards. Aside from collaborating with Mischer in 2009 and 2010 for the 61st and 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards, the pair has joined forces on many other projects, including working as co-executive producers of the 2007, 2008 and 2009 Super Bowl Halftime Shows with Prince, Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen respectively. In addition, Weiss has directed numerous television specials which recently includes, Oscars Red Carpet:Live (2011-2012), the Academy of Country Music Awards (2009- 2012) and the American Music Awards (2008-2012), New Year’s Rockin’ Eve (2008-2012) among many others. Weiss has been involved in large scale events such as all the Democratic National Conventions since 2000, and has many television series to his credit as well.
With two Primetime Emmy Awards and over 20 years’ experience designing in the entertainment industry for such large scale special events as the Academy Awards, Grammy Awards, Tony Awards and Emmy Awards, Steve Bass’ breadth of work crosses all mediums. His signature talents have been tapped for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Atlanta Olympics, The Democratic Convention and the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. Additionally, Bass’ work can be seen on Good Morning America, American Idol, Entertainment Tonight, and Dr. Phil. Mischer and Bass first teamed up for the 53rd Primetime Emmy Awards in 2001.
The 64th Primetime Emmy Awards will begin live, coast to coast on Sunday, September 23rd (8:00 – 11:00 p.m. ET) on ABC and will originate from the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles.
