OVERCOMING TEMPTATION Satan has a hit (Contract) on every believer. His goal, purpose, and objective are to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10a). As Christians we have chosen God’s side. Salvation is not a barrier to temptation. Whatever God is for Satan is against. He uses temptation and deception to get believers to fall. However, temptation, while it cannot be avoided, can be overcome!

Man is made in the image of the triune God. Man is a triune being; he possesses Body, Soul, and Spirit. When we are tempted, it will always be in one of these three areas.

A. The Soul – This is the Word used to describe the you that lives inside your body. It speaks of your mind, will and emotions. The world is the primary tempter of the Soul. A worldly person is one who is given to the pleasures of the world.

B. The Body – The flesh, referring to the old nature always attacks the body. We are tempted to laziness, lust, overindulgence, sexual sins and etc.

C. The Spirit – The spirit is the primary arena for satanic attacks. If the Soul is our self-consciousness, then the Sprit is our God consciousness.
