Minutes of meeting held At Crown Court, Newton Road, Tilbury Thursday 2nd June 2016

1. Welcomes and apologies- Welcomes and apologies noted.

2. Minutes of the last meeting – Read and agreed.

3. Matters Arising – Debbie reported that she had contacted Cllr Liddiard to ask if he could chase the demolition of the old Changing Rooms on the Daisy Field that had previously been followed up by Cllr Baldwin. Cllr Liddiard reported that he has been in contact with Darren Spring who has reported he will chase. The Services to the building have now been disconnected and the Council are awaiting a quote for the demolition work. Residents asked whether Willmott Dixon, currently building in St Chads Road for Glorianna could be approached to assist with demolition as part of the 106 agreement. Action: Debbie to e mail Council and Cllr’s to ask for confirmation of quote and timeline for demolition and raise the question above.

4. Speaker – Unfortunately the Forum had been unable to confirm a Speaker for this evening.

5. Funding requests – Chris asked to raise again the possibility of a plaque for Jimmy “chicken” Adams. A vote was taken regarding the Forum providing funding for a plaque and the Forum voted against this. Anne proposed that those that had been in favour may wish to jointly fund this with Chris. Chris agreed. Barney asked if Funding could be requested for summer bedding plants for the planters in Civic Square. Debbie reported that she had obtained an application form for the Councils Small Sparks Fund to enable the Forum to apply for funds to purchase the bedding plants but if there is a shortfall this amount could be submitted and considered by the Forum.

6.Local Office update- No representative available for this evenings meeting.

7. Any Other Business – A resident raised concern regarding a metal railing protruding from the hedge outside Boots causing a risk. Action: Cllr Okunade to follow up. George asked about the closure of the lay bys on the 1089. Debbie had received feedback from Nathan Drover, Transport Development Manager at the Council, who reported that he hasn’t as yet had any confirmation on this from Highways England but he assumes that this wont happen until the end of the Summer when the A13 improvements are completed. Feedback was also given regarding the markings for Disabled Bays around the Town which will be refreshed. With reference to the parking issues in Brennan/London Roads around the Sure Start Centre Nathan has contacted Matthew Ford to investigate the possibility of verge hardening. Action: Debbie to email for further follow up and also request with Barney whether Nathan or one of his Team could attend a Hub session to meet with residents. Nathan had also asked that the Forum be informed of the current Air Quality and Health Strategy Consultation on the Councils website. Fly tipping and waste in Tilbury, along the 1089 and across the Borough continues to be an issue. Cllr Okunade is aware that Thurrock Park Ward have a Facebook page trying to address this issue and it may be worth Tilbury residents getting involved. Colin reported that the new Leader of Thurrock Council has pledged to tackle fly tipping. The Foum will follow this up as able. Ray asked if it was possible to request an investigation into a property in Sullivan Road at which there was a recent major disturbance and if this is being used by offenders. Action: Debbie to follow up with Cllr’s and Police. Barney reported that Mears would be attending tomorrows Hub session to answer residnets questions.
