Job Description

Individual Giving Assistant Responsible to: Individual Giving Fundraising Officer Salary: £14,000 - £17,000 Hours: Full Time Office base in Liverpool

Overall Objective

To join a dynamic fundraising team to assist with projects and activity to help achieve the annual targeted budget specifically through assisting our Individual Giving Fundraising Officer. This role is varied, fast paced and has scope for development.

The role will work across three fundraising departments and communicate with multiple internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the fundraising strategy is delivered successfully. The role will involve working with members of the public, including those bereaved and living with lung cancer, to provide a tailored and personal customer service. Attention to detail is essential to excel in this role. The post holder must also be prepared to occasionally attend events outside of work hours, this includes some weekends, particularly in the run up to the festive period.

Position in Organisation  Reports to the Individual Giving Fundraising Officer  Liaises at all levels inside the organisation  Relates to volunteers, individuals and groups  Key relationships with fundraising, marketing, IT and admin teams  External facing to public supporters

Scope of Role

 To support the Individual Giving Officer to ensure that both the fundraising strategy and targets are met.  Assist with answering telephone queries from existing and prospective supporters (some of whom have lost a loved one/ someone close to them).  Assist with liaising with funeral directors who wish to order personalised funeral envelopes or set up a Tribute Fund page on their client’s behalf.  Assist with running queries and inputting donor information on to the data base. This includes managing all completed ‘opt in’ postcards.  Assist with producing personalised correspondence to donors such as ‘Thinking of You’ and ‘Thank You’ cards.  Assist with printing personalised funeral collection envelopes and preparing funeral mailing packs within a set time frame.

 Assist with the day to day running of Much Loved - an online memorial site where supporters can remember loved ones who have died from lung cancer.  Assist with the launch of Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation Living Tribute Funds.  Help to manage In Memory social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter.  Provide logistical and administrative support for Direct Mail and online campaigns, such as bi-annual Raffles.  Liaise with retail department to ensure effective delivery of Individual Giving campaigns.  Ensure each gift is acknowledged within 48 hours with appropriate gift aid material included.  Assist with all preparations for the Celebrate a Life at Christmas campaign. This includes helping to organise various ‘In Memory’ events across the UK.  Assist with supporter engagement events such as lab tours  Assist with central filing

Person Specification

The Individual Giving Assistant role presents an exciting opportunity to join a highly dedicated team and to gain experience in arguably one of the most creative areas of direct fundraising- Individual Giving. Your role will be varied and will require working across three fundraising departments and communicating with multiple internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the 2017/18 fundraising strategy is delivered successfully. Experience working in the not-for- profit sector is not necessary, however, exceptional communication, organisation, time management skills and attention to detail is essential to excel in this role. The post holder must also be prepared to occasionally attend events outside of work hours, this includes some weekends, particularly in the run up to the festive period.
