The draw for the Apple I Pad Air will take place at 7.45pm

Mrs Lawson – Head of Sixth Form will be in the auditorium to answer any questions throughout the evening

Throughout the evening, our very talented music students will perform in the auditorium.

In addition, we have a number of representatives from local universities who will be able to offer advice and guidance when choosing A level and Vocational options.

Please feel free to talk with them.

Refreshments are available throughout the evening. Ground Floor

Music: Room 0.09

Please visit our amazing music facilities which include practice rooms and a recording studio. Throughout the evening there will be performances from students including a performance from our own sixth form band ‘Purple Fence’ and other supporting bands from KS3.

Biology: Room 0.07

Please join us to meet our highly experienced staff who will answer any questions you have about the course. Discover and learn about the practical elements of the course as we invite you to take part in the dissection of a rat, lungs and heart.

Professional Cookery : Room 0.03

Please join us to view our facilities and sample some of our culinary delights. Ask any questions about the course we offer and potential career opportunities.

Careers and employability: Room 0.02

We have a dedicated careers and employability adviser. For advice and guidance please call in and speak to Miss Swarbrick.

First Floor

Sociology: Room 1.01

Come and meet our sociology students and staff and talk to them about the course and the topics they are studying. There is also an opportunity to view student work and look at the excellent standard of feedback provided. This all helps our students to achieve the highest grades.

Business: Room 1.03

Come and meet our business studies staff and students. There will be an opportunity to view their work and look at marketing and branding techniques used by well-known companies and organisations.

Law: Room 1.02

Come and test your legal knowledge as you take part in the ‘Who’s liable test?’ Talk to staff and students in the law department and find out more about the legal system and how it works.

Creative Media: Room 1.05

Come and speak to our staff about the coursework involving App design. Watch key scenes from films as staff explain some of the film theory and assignments you will produce on this course. Discover what our current students enjoy about the course and meet with staff to discuss progression into Higher Education and career prospects.

Main Building

Art: Room 1.13 and 1.14

Please join us in this highly successful subject area and view the excellent work our current students are working on.

Staff will be on hand to discuss the A Level course including individual projects on Textiles/Fashion and Drawing/Painting.

Physics: Room 1.10

Please call in to meet with staff and students and take part in practical activities such as calculating gravity and investigating capacitance.

Chemistry: Room 1.09

Test your science skills and take the Silver Mirror Test or just enjoy the Halogen demonstration. Staff from the department will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about the course and how it can advance you onto Higher Education.

Second Floor

Computer Science: Room 2.03

Meet department staff who will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the course. You will not only have the opportunity to view games that students have created but also to interact and play these games.

ICT: Room 2.04

Staff will showcase One note and how this is used to support student work. Students will demonstrate their skills and explain how the ICT course is assessed. There will also be a chance to view some examples of the excellent coursework produced by students.

Please join us to take part in a variety of mechanics practical activities.

Challenge your knowledge with Fermes estimation problems History: Room 2.02

Meet our A level Historians to look at Tsarist and Communist Russia from 1855-1964 and the making of Modern Britain 1951-2007. Test your knowledge. How much do you know? Look at the outstanding coursework produced by our students.

Third Floor

English: Room 3.01

Life, love and lies - the whole world in literature.’ Come to English to find out more about studying A Level English Literature by taking part in our tempting taster activities. Please talk with staff and students about the English curriculum and the expectations we have of our students.

Psychology: Room 3.09

Join our students to look at the topics covered in this exciting A level. Try the personality and other behavioural psychology tests. Look at the examples of student work and the depth of knowledge required to complete this A level. Excellent in-depth feedback allows students to make exceptional progress.

Health and Social Care: Room 3.08

Much of this course is centred on equality and diversity as well as the skills needed for communication. Come and see how we teach our students the importance of valuing people and what happens when we don’t value others. Have a go at our communication games.

Childcare: Room 3.08

Take part in our practical demonstration to investigate how play helps children to learn. How much do you know about milestones of development? Meet our staff and students to find out the answers to these questions.

Contemporary Ethics: Room 3.11

Study of this subject is compulsory for all students as part of enrichment. Please meet the staff to find out the issues raised in this course which is designed to make our students think about society.

Sports Barn

Please come and view our excellent sports facilities. On the ground floor, students will be demonstrating their skills and techniques in the area of trampolining and table tennis in the purpose built sports hall.

On the first floor, please look at our gym and dance studio where we organise fitness classes for our students.

In the sports viewing deck, you will be able to find out more about our sports course and view the exemplary work produced by our students.
