CLASS ASSEMBLY

1. Good Morning and welcome to Class 4’s assembly.

2. This morning most of you probably opened a door on your advent calendar. This is because it is getting near to Christmas.

3. Getting Ready for Christmas by Class 4.

4. There’s a lovely feeling at our school. I feel happy inside. There are lots of excited children with tickly tummies. EVERYTHING SHINES.

5. There’s a sewing machine in the staffroom instead of a computer; a post box in a corner. The teachers look worried and smiling all at the same time. EVERYTHING SHINES.

6. Christmas Carols with wonky tunes keep coming out of classrooms; everyone is walking around very fast. The corridors are full of shepherd costumes. EVERYTHING SHINES.

7. There’s bits of snow drifting around the school- and it isn’t even snowing. There’s the secret sound of tissue paper. And secret looks on secret faces. EVERYTHING SHINES.

8. I heard Miss McDaid tell Christopher that she believed in magic. I believe in it as well. I think you can believe in it even if you are grown up. That’s what helps to make everything shine. 8. Christmas is very special to lots of people and in lots of different ways.

22. My dad is from Africa. 18. On Christmas Day here people wake up to the sound of people singing carols outside.

23. They also often have their Christmas Dinner outside because it is so hot.

24. Our parents are from India.

20. The way Christmas is celebrated in India varies from one area to another.

25. In South India, Christians put small clay lamps on the rooftops and walls of their houses at Christmas, just as the Hindus do during their festival called Diwali. 26. However some people in India don’t celebrate Christmas because of their religion but they still have fun and get a day off school.

27. As we are all learning to speak Spanish we thought we would also tell you about the Spanish Christmas.

28. Christmas is a deeply religious festival in Spain.

29. The Three Wise Men are seen everywhere in Spain at this time because the Spanish believe they passed through Spain on their way to Bethlehem. 30. Also Christmas dinner in Spain is never eaten till after midnight.
