Therefore, we would like to welcome you to our nursery so that you can meet us and let us put your mind at ease. Our aim is to provide the perfect solution to any parent looking for childcare by understanding both the child's and parent’s needs. So whether you are looking to return to work, moving area or whether you just want your child to have the best opportunities in life, then come to Penny Pot Nursery.

MISSION STATEMENT Penny Pot Nursery will provide a happy environment in which the children will learn and grow through play. Children, parents and staff will value, respect and care for each other in a relaxed and happy atmosphere. Our babies, we work very closely with parents because we recognise the importance of continuity of routine between home and nursery. Our toddlers develop through a balance of play, structured, independent, guided and shared activities. And finally, our older children enjoy our curriculum that meets all current objectives in Early Years Education and develop within a flexible framework. Your child’s key person will be able to draw upon a wide range of our resources and equipment to ensure individual needs are met. At the end of every session attended, you will receive informal feedback about your child’s day. Children will sometimes bring home samples of their work. We observe children throughout their play and their progress is monitored towards the child’s individual profile, this you can read at any time. STARTING AT NURSERY We would advise that before starting properly you and your child attend for a few trial sessions, these can range from 1/2 hour to 1 hour, you can either stay and play or leave the child in our capable hands, the choice is entirely up to you, and we will accommodate you as much as we can within reason. On the first day could you ensure that you have their birth certificate and photographs of your child and of both parents, this is for security purposes only. If your child needs a comforter then please let them bring it along for security. Could you bring spare clothes to hang on their peg or keep in their own box, slippers or pumps to change into and a pair of wellingtons. We will always try to send your child home clean and tidy but this is not always possible, children do tend to get very messy when using art materials even though an apron is provided, we play out in the garden and go for walks in all-weather so please make sure your child brings a suitable outdoor coat, we have a range of waterproof suits that the children can wear and in summer they must have a hat and sun cream. UNIFORM We do have polo shirts and sweatshirts available to order. If a child appears unwell when they enter the nursery the parents/carers will be asked to take them to the doctors to ensure that they are not contagious. If the doctor confirms that the child is fit and well enough to return to nursery they can do so. If your child needs to have medicine administered, a consent form must be filled in and signed. The nursery cannot administer any medicine that has not been prescribed by a doctor, other than temperature reducing medicine such as Calpol. The children’s profiles are now online, you will be sent a link to activate your own personal number for your child only. What do we do? We are here to provide educational and stimulating play, which encourages your child to learn and develop to their full potential. We offer a variety of activities that enable your child to develop their skills, where they are observed and their progress is monitored, working with the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum It is the group’s policy not to discriminate against any of the children or parents on the grounds of race, religion, colour, and mental or physical abilities. This policy is based on the belief that all children are equally entitled to be cared for in ways which enhance their self-esteem and which enable them to view others in a positive manner, in the event that, as they grow, they will value other people as individuals. Child Management We understand that each child is an individual. There are many factors that contribute to how and why a child/children act in a situation. It is our policy not to decide whether the child/children’s actions are good or bad, however we realise it is important for a child/children to play in a secure framework of rules in order they learn consideration for others and how they behave in a constructive manner for themselves. Unwanted behaviour is shown in many forms, e.g. aggressive, disruptive and temper-tantrums. It is our policy to ensure that the techniques used in child behaviour management are firm, fair and consistent. We praise positive features in any behaviour and avoid confrontation where possible. Preventive measures such as providing a stimulating environment and distractions are used. In some circumstances the child may be taken aside and his/her actions discussed on a one-to-one level. Parents will always be informed of unacceptable behaviour so we can work together. Policies The written policies are available for all to read. They are on display by the parents’ notice board. This also includes the complaints procedure should the need arise to use it.
