OVERVIEW Promotion and the award of tenure take effect on September 1 only Candidate dossiers are due to the Dean’s office about one year in advance of promotion effective date There are five promotion checklists; select the appropriate checklist for your promotion / tenure action and use it as the cover sheet for each candidate’s promotion dossier Checklists, resources, and required forms are available on the FAO website
CHANGES IN APPOINTMENT FOR PROMOTION / TENURE CANDIDATES (DUE 9/1/2017) Change of Basis: submit request PRIOR to promotion requests, effective no later than 9/1/17. Change of Domains on the Clinician-Educator track: faculty can request domain changes until 9/1/17; these will then be “locked” until after promotion review is completed. Change of career track/tenure status: Contact FAO first. Submit as separate request PRIOR to 9/1/17. (Exception: change from Undifferentiated to a specific track may be included w/the promotion request). Evidence of a national search for certain career tracks required.

GUIDELINES FOR PREPARING PROMOTION PACKETS Paper Submission Submit documents in the order listed on the checklist All documents should be printed single-sided Do not staple or clip your packets
Electronic Submission For each candidate that uses checklist #3, send a separate email to [email protected] E-mail subject line: DeptName Promotion: CandidateName (e.g., Surgery Promotion: John Smith) Documents should be attached to the email as separate Word or PDF files Note: Do not send an email for each document; rather send one email for each candidate that has all that candidate’s documents attached as separate files. File Names: Department_LastName_DocumentType (e.g., Surgery_Smith_CV)
