Concerts First, I'd like to apologize for not being at the meeting today. My work scheduled me for only days I couldn't work this week and I already called off once because I was in Florida with Distance for Dreams and I couldn't call off again. I would definitely rather be with you all right now though!

I hope you all enjoyed my lovely e-mail last night - I'm so excited that we finally got to announce our major spring concert!!! There has been a lot of work put into getting Neon Trees and Owl City to come to Xavier and there is a lot more to come, but Concerts is excited and ready to put on an awesome show! If you haven't read the newswire today I'll give you a little update on all the details of the concert, just as I promised in my e-mail last night. Ticket Kick-Off will most likely be next Wednesday - more details to come on that. Student tickets are $25 floor seats, $20 lower bowl/arena and the general public doesn't have access to the floor and their tickets are $35 for all bowl seating. The date as you know is April 14th at 7:30pm and doors will open at 6:30pm. Laurel Bauer, Xavier's Media Relations Coordinator is sending out a press release this Thursday to the community. The posters are all designed and about ready to be printed. More updates to come soon!

Now I'll turn my report over to Becky for a quick Xavier Fest update... Volunteers for concert ticket kickoff sign-up sheet is being passed around.

Campus Traditions Just a few updates from Campus Traditions this week. Ski Trip ticket sales will be next Wednesday at 6pm here in GSC. Just as a reminder if you are interested, tickets will be sold for $15 and include rental. After discussion as a committee, due to the small amount left in the lecture budget, there isn’t really someone noteworthy we could bring to campus this spring. Our hope is to reallocate the funds from both the Lecture and Mr. Muskie line items to the Campus Traditions budget to put towards Student Activities Council Meeting Minutes

January 16, 2013 Spring Week which we have begun planning! If you have any ideas or suggestions about what you would like to see during Spring Week, we would be happy to listen. Thanks and have a great week! Can you explain Spring Week? New event, something going on every day. Tuesday night Xavier Showcase, Friday XavierFest, having clubs do things throughout week. Kind of like WoW. Incentivizing clubs to be part of the week.

Report of the SAC Chair

LeeAnn Scherbauer I hope you have all seen the office hour contest rules around the office. If you have any questions about it, please do not hesitate to ask. I want everyone to be involved and excited about this.

Vacancy applications are out and I have already started to receive a couple of apps. We will be conducting interviews most likely on January 24-25th. Encourage students to apply!

Chairs, please fill out the new whenisgood link I sent out to you all last night. I want to finalize this meeting time. Student Activities Council Meeting Minutes

January 16, 2013

Proposals due this Sunday are Cooking in the Caf and Late Night Movie.

Snack is the following: Katie Schad and Tiffany. Thank you Luke and Allie for providing snack this week.

Thank you all who helped out at the involvement fair yesterday. I really appreciate it!

Sorry, we had to bring up the constitution today. We aren't quite done with it yet, but we are almost there!

Report of Advisor

Dustin Lewis I want to start off with discussing the concert. (I asked a dozen SAC’ers who their favorite band or artist was and none of the answers were repeated.) My point in asking you is that none of you have the same favorite artist. Many of you had all kinds of different genres of music you like. Keep this in mind now that the concert has been announced. We will never please everyone. We will do our best to try and bring the best option to campus possible. This year, the students voted and they chose Neon Trees and Owl City. They told us that these were the groups they wanted most out of the 8 artists on our list. I hope you all remember that choosing a concert and pleasing everyone is impossible, but let’s get excited and rally together as a board behind these groups and the Concerts committee to put on one hellagood show for Xavier!

For your Senate Minute today...at present, Senate now has 2 vacancies on their board and the interview process is already completed. At their next meeting, Senate will vote to approve the new senators. Please welcome them to SGA when they get started on their terms. Misha Balcowiec will be joining Community Affairs and Billy Kissel will be joining Association Affairs. In other Senate news, Club Relations currently has 8 clubs seeking recognition from SGA and is also working with assisting 6 existing clubs to increase their membership to at least 10 people as well as 25 existing clubs that do not have by-laws on record.

Thank you to those of you who worked the Spring Involvement Fair yesterday! SAC had a great showing of volunteers throughout the day! Don’t forget that next week is Martin Luther King, Jr. Week. Please review the list of events I shared with you and hopefully you will be able to attend something in support of the week. The university will be closed although the office will be open on Monday in observance of the holiday. Student Activities Council Meeting Minutes

January 16, 2013 Next weekend is the Emerging Leaders Retreat. I hope that all of the new(er) SAC’ers who are attending have a great time and I’ll see you there!

Finally, this weekend is the Senior Board Winter Ball. Tickets are completely sold out for the event. We had 350 tickets and sold them 1 per All Card to only members of the Class of 2013. We wanted to make sure that as many seniors as possible could attend. The event is this Friday at the 20th Century Theatre. I’ll see some of you there as well!

Senior board advisors? Me and Molly Dugan.

Rumors that this is the last year for senior week? No, in fact, it is already built into the calendar for next year, 2014.

How are the concert prices determined? Based on what we have charged in the past (We did charge more for public this year). Base it off what the bands have been charging at other colleges. But also base it off polls from this fall, students told us what they wanted to pay – we are in that range.

Applications for Senior Board? We are recruiting this spring.

Helping with ticket sales, would we get lower level seats? We have not discussed that yet, game plan is typically that Concerts Committee gets free tickets, other SAC members could earn free ticket, but SGA, especially SAC, will get first dibs on a section of the front, second, third...rows.

Who gets to meet them? Concerts Committee is the only committee that will meet the artists.

Did you know Father Graham has made it a priority to keep Senior Week? Ok.
