THE DARRELL RUSSELL 10TH ANNUAL SPORTSMAN GOLF TOURNAMENT PRESENTED BY O’REILLY

On Thursday, March 27, 2008 at noon, we will hold the Darrell Russell 10th Annual Sportsman Golf Tournament presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts open to all racers, crew members, NHRA and sponsors. The event will be held at Eagle Pointe Golf Club just 10 minutes from Houston Raceway Park in Mt. Belvieu, Texas. The event is a scramble type format which gives all a chance to play and learn, no previous experience necessary (although it is helpful), a set of golf clubs are the only requirement. Following the tournament there will be an awards presentation ceremony at the clubhouse with dinner.

The tournament has been planned to coincide with the 21th Annual O’Reilly Spring Nationals in Houston on Thursday afternoon. This will give all those participating at the race a chance to get your rigs parked and come over to the golf course. The tournament will be a scramble format with four players per team. There will be a shotgun start at noon, so you will need to be at the golf course by 11:00 to get to your starting hole. If you arrive early there will be free balls to hit at the driving range and the putting greens will be open to you for practice. Proper attire is required on the course, a collared shirt (polo) and no cutoff jeans. Special note: metal spikes are prohibited on the course; soft spikes are available at the course.

All proceeds from the tournament will be donated on behalf of Darrell Russell to the Big Brothers Big Sisters Charity and to DRAW to help fund the work they are doing to improve NHRA sportsman racing. Please join us for a great day of fun with your friends, competitors, and sponsors.

Definitions: Scramble Tournament: Everyone hits from the tee then the best ball is picked and everyone on the team drops at that ball and hits from there. This is done on each shot including putts until the hole is finished. Only a team score is kept. Shotgun Start: All teams are assigned a different starting hole and play begins and ends at that hole allowing everyone to start the tournament at the same time.

From Houston: Take I-10 east to exit 800 (FM 3180), go north 3 miles, course is on right.
