OUTSTANDING MANAGER OF THE YEAR AWARD
Each year, FSNA honors the school foodservice nutrition manager with the Outstanding Manager of the Year Award. The purpose of this award is to recognize and stimulate outstanding contributions to the school foodservice nutrition profession by managers of school-based programs.
Background FSNA has established this award to recognize the contributions of managers who manage effective programs that provide healthful, appetizing, and nutritious meals to students.
Who May Apply Nominations may be by a school administrator, school foodservice employee, or a chapter member. Managers may nominate themselves. They must be a SNA member, a FSNA member, and SNA certified. Note: Director/Supervisors and foodservice employees are not eligible for this award.
Nominations for the award may include, but are not limited to any of the following: OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE as related to assignment RELATIONSHIP with fellow employees, students, and patrons of the district PERSONAL COMMITMENT to self-improvement and community service. (Points will be awarded for each)
Two letters of recommendation (only one page each) should be submitted with each nomination. One should be by an administrator, principal/teacher, or immediate supervisor and the second by a co-worker from within the District building support staff personnel (custodian, secretary, educational assistant, or school foodservice nutrition employee).
Even if you have submitted an award in the past, do not start until you have read the General Information and Procedures, Award Application Process. This is important in making sure you are following the criteria required for the award process and they may have changed from the previous year.
Selection Procedures The preliminary nomination application and required two recommendations must be postmarked on or before February 1 of each year and sent to the FSNA Scholarships and Awards Chair. All documentation must be neatly bound in a 1” or smaller folder/binder, on one-sided 8 ½” x 11” paper with the completed entry form serving as the cover page for all documentation.
