RISK VS. BENEFIT LEADERSHIP BEING AGGRESSIVE… BUT SAFE! This class is designed to prepare firefighters and officers in the basic fundamentals of conducting a Risk VS Benefit analysis when responding to an incident. It will cover the steps necessary to be aggressive yet safe. The class will utilize fire scenarios to deter- mine the safest tactical considerations based on building construction, fire conditions, personnel needs, and equipment. Class Objectives • Examine current fire trends. • Understand building construction and its effects during a fire. • Conduct proper size up. • Reading smoke and fire conditions. • Recognize operational pitfalls affecting an incident. • Operating aggressively, but safe. • Determine the risk vs. the benefit. • Making the right call. • Making sure everyone goes home.
