Paul and May Chu Sportsman / Sportswoman of the Year Award 2016/17 Notes to Nominators/ Nominees

The Paul and May Chu Sportsman / Sportswoman of the Year Award was established in 2010/11 with a fund of over HK$500,000 raised during the Fun Run in honor of the departing President Prof Paul Chu in May 2009. The fund is dedicated to the development of sports in the University.

Eligibility - All full-time HKUST students including undergraduate, postgraduate and exchange-in students - All full-time HKUST staff members

Nominations Any member of the University is welcome to nominate candidates for the Award.

Selection of Awardees Two students and two staff members will be selected for the Award. The Selection Panel, consisted of staff and student representatives, will assess the nominations and select the awardees based on their achievements in the following: - Sports performance in international competition, local/open competition, intervarsity competition and others (Sports include all those with National Sports Associations affiliated to ANY National Olympic Committee under the auspice of the International Olympic Committee) - Contribution/services to team - Contribution to the development of sports in the university community Achievement without documentary proof will not be accepted and considered by the Panel as assessment/selection criteria.

Prizes Cash awards of HK$5,000 will be offered to each of the student awardees and HK$2,000 to each of the staff awardees. A personal trophy will be presented to each awardee and their names will be engraved on a trophy for display on campus.

Submission of nominations Nomination forms, together with supporting documents such as copies of certificates wherever applicable, must be submitted to the Secretary of the Sports Awards Committee by e-mail to pmchusports @ust.hk on or before 30 April 2017. Nominations will only be processed if the supporting documents are received. Late nominations will not be considered.
