Greenpeace, one of the world’s most respected and dynamic organization, is an international non-profit global campaigning organization that acts to protect and conserve the environment. At the heart of Greenpeace campaigns is the tradition of non-violent, direct action against environmental abuse and destruction.

For over 35 years, Greenpeace has been successful in campaigning to reverse environmental degradation by bearing witness to environmental degradation by bearing witness to environmental destruction and exposing and confronting environmental abuse. Greenpeace campaigns have been vital in informing government policies on the environment and effecting changes in business practices which lead to various environmental problems.

Greenpeace does not accept funding from governments or corporations to ensure our independence from financial and commercial interests. We rely on the support of individuals to be able to continue our work in protecting the environment.

Greenpeace in Southeast Asia

Greenpeace has been present in Southeast Asia since 2000. Greenpeace has led successful campaigns in the region, including preventing the entry of hazardous waste imports and radioactive shipments, campaigning against destructive logging, stopping polluting technologies such as waste incinerators and coal power plants, promoting sustainable agriculture, renewable energy and necessary solutions to key environmental problems. Greenpeace actively campaigns across the region to catalyze an energy revolution, protect the world’s ancient forests, create a toxics-free future, and campaign for sustainable agriculture.

Greenpeace has three offices in Southeast Asia – in Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines. GPSEA is composed of five departments --- the Campaigns Department, the Fundraising Department, Communications, Mass Mobilization and Organizational Support Department. Currently, Greenpeace has more than a hundred staff around the region, excluding the direct dialogue/fundraisers.

THE POST - HUMAN RESOURCE OPERATIONS OFFICER

The Human Resource Operations Officer is responsible for implementing HR functions in the Philippines which include Recruitment and Selection, Performance Management, Induction, HR information management, and other HR-related tasks, to help achieve Human Resource goals and objectives.

Contract Term: One year

Main responsibilities:

1. Facilitate recruitment and selection process

a. Assist in processing recruitment documents i.e. Employee Requisition Form, Job description, Recruitment Pack and the Application Form, and facilitate job advertisements b. Conduct application screening, organize interview schedules, be part of interview panel as may be necessary c. Obtain Remuneration advice and confirmation from the Regional HR Development Officer and Organizational Support Director, for the successful candidate d. Conduct reference check and job offering to the successful candidates. e. Conduct Induction (New Staff On Board) Program and pre-induction tasks which includes contract preparation and processing, induction scheduling, facilitation of probationary period evaluation

2. Coordinate and facilitate staff performance management system and process: a. Provide information, assistance and advise to staff in relation to GPSEA’s performance management System and form completion b. Coordinate completion and filing of Performance Management Forms, as per performance management phase indicated in the process.

3. Assist in organizing a structured training and development program :

a. Collate staff training requirements indicated in the Staff Performance form and , as agreed between the line manager and the staff, and provide the information to Human Resources Development unit. b. Provide assistance to Human Resources Development unit in terms of identifying/arranging/preparing of training venues and training materials

4. Administer and maintain staff database and other human resource-related information a. Prepare necessary letters and documents including certificate of employment, invitations for visa purposes, work permits processing

5. Maintain the Philippine online leave system

6. Provide advice to the Management in the following areas: a. Philippine labor laws b. HR policies and procedures.

7. Other HR functions as required by the Line Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in the field of psychology, behavioral or social science, industrial relations, or relevant experience

At least 2 years of experience in human resource operations, including recruitment and selection, performance management, information management, policy implementation

Familiarity with the Philippine labor laws

Excellent spoken and written english

Computer skills (excel and word processor)

Experience in working in a cross-cultural environment

Ability to work effectively in a team but is also able to work independently

Ability to handle multitasks

Ability to meet tight deadlines

Willingness to work outside core working hours

Commitment to non-violent direct action as a means of effecting change

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE APPLYING TO THIS POST

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT

All items below are applicable to full time permanent employees only. Different policy applies for Project Employees.

WORKING HOURS

Normal hours of work for full time Employee will be forty (40) per week or (5) days in a week, at 8 hours per day excluding an hour lunch break. This will be from Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8:30 am to 6: 30 pm. Ordinary hours of work may be varied as agreed between staff and the line managers.

LEAVE A permanent employee will be entitled to the following leaves:

Annual Leave – 20 days Sick Leave – 25 days (may be used for significant others including family members) Parental Leave - 60 to 78 days maternity leave with paid leave, and 7 days paternity leave with pay Sabbatical leave – 2 months paid leave after 5 years of continuous service Compassionate leave – 5 days for the death of significant others

SALARY

In determining salary offer for this position, Greenpeace applies its Salary Grading Process, taking into consideration the job description and applicant’s previous experience, and the organization’s salary grade.

INSURANCE Greenpeace provides health insurance and travel insurance to it’s employees.
