Conflict Resolution Handout Communication Classroom Lesson

Objectives Students will identify communication styles, learn skills for active listening, and communicate using ‘I’ statements.

Lesson Plan  Students generate relevant scenarios by anonymously writing them on prompt-select as exs.  Chart passive, aggressive, and assertive responses to scenarios-Ex. ‘Passive Paul might say/do…’ Demonstrate first then students identify  Describe active listening-body language and appropriate questioning. Practice with pair share and discuss how it felt to be listened to  Introduce ‘I’ statements- ‘I feel --- because ---. I want ---.’ And responses- ‘I heard you say ---.
