Clubmark – Steve Williams

Steve gave and update on the clubmark clubs as below:-

17 clubmarked 8 working towards 5 inactive

4 clubs need to be re-accredited next year: Copley Oxenhope Todmorden Warley

Requirements to complete re-accreditation:-

Finish file reviews and site visit by the end of the junior cricket season. Ensure all records are up to date and that anyone who needs to be registered on a course contacts Dennis Verity. Need to look at these during the winter months.

CRB – new forms are being issued - apparently there are a lot more pages. Reminder that junior coaches need to be CRB checked before the start of the season, otherwise they will not be able to coach. Renewals will be sent to old address (if anyone has moved in last 3 years) so will need to complete a new form.

Update from Steve Archer (Julie Pearson)

Chance 2 Shine – Unable to take on any new clubs for 2013 due to funding restrictions – if any clubs would like to be involved in 2014 contact Steve Archer to begin discussions (the earlier we know about it the more chance we have on involving clubs). At present the area has Warley & Illingworth involved, with an amount of funding also ringfenced for Copley & Blackley to enable them to continue a limited amount of schools work. Barkisland CC have expressed an interest for 2014

C2S Secondary school initiative – The cricket foundation have recently been successful in an application to deliver activity in a number of secondary schools, It’s too early at present to give lots of detail, but it is probable that in 2013 the YCB will target a total of 50 schools (20 in West Yorkshire). The funding can’t be used for curriculum coaching, but lunchtime clubs/after school & club sessions, Young Leaders courses, visits to Headingley are amongst proposals aimed at ensuring more become or stay involved at 14+ age group.

ECB / Sport England funding announcement – A cut of around £300k for Cricket, in the main due to a fall in numbers participating at 14+ age group – not sure of implications locally at this stage

Sportivate – West Yorkshire Sport still encouraging applications from clubs who are looking to engage & involve players at the 14-25 age group – funding can be used to run sessions for new players to the game, coaching fees, venue hire, promotion, transport etc – if anyone wants further details contact Steve Archer who will help with applications

YCB Seminar – Tuesday 22nd January 2013, 7.15pm at Cleckheaton CC, main speakers are from Sport England with guidance on successful applications, do’s/don’ts etc. Please book via Steve Archer, limited to 200, already over 110 booked on

Coaching Courses (Dennis Verity)

Finished 6 coaching development workshops Level 2 – went very well – it’s the first time he has run them, we will probably do them again.

Current level 1 and 2 courses are going to change, received a very complicated letter explaining all about it. Cannot get a clear message about the new courses – next course in March will be the last under the current system. – No idea what will take its place.

Be aware of new names for courses as follows:

Level 1 course 3rd and 10th March will be oversubscribed. – Cost £185 per person Sky funding will still be available – for Level 1 go onto West Yorkshire Sport website to see about funding.

Safeguarding Children course at Illingworth CC Tuesday 8th January – & 7th March First Aid on 14th March at Illingworth. Each person will receive £5 back in funding.

From April First Aid Certificate will increase from £2 to £18 – so need to do course before end of March. Please contact Dennis if anyone from your club needs to go on a course.
