SCHOLARSHIPS

The following include a listing of scholarships that are available to Althoff’s 2016 graduating class. Additional scholarships may also be available from the college you are planning to attend. Please check with them to see if there is anything available to you.

Please an X in front of the scholarships for which you are eligible and return it to your Theology teacher. We will assemble a packet of the applications you request and Mrs. Tepen will give them to your Theology teacher to return to you.

DUE: MARCH 9, 2016 ASSOCIATION OF THE UNITED STATES ARMY (ST. LOUIS GATEWAY CHAPTER) Available to a student who has a parent that is currently a member of any active, Guard or reserve component of the U.S. Army; a parent who served in the U.S. Army, Guard, or Reserve; or a student in a High School Army JROTC program; or a parent who currently works for a defense contractor or a defense agency. Required: Complete application, list of extra-curricular activities and service, two letters of recommendation, essay and transcript.

DUE: MARCH 11, 2016 (MUST GIVE TO MR. RENSING BY 3:00 PM) COMMERCE BANK (ONE STUDENT FROM ACHS WILL BE AWARDED THIS SCHOLARSHIP. Available to any student who has positive leadership and character in both academic and extra-curricular school activities; exhibits leadership and character in the community and/or religious activities. Required: Complete application, cover letter, two reference letters, an essay, and an interview with the selection committee. (THIS SCHOLARSHIP IS $2,000.00 A YEAR FOR FOUR YEARS FOR A TOTAL OF $8,000.00)

DUE: MARCH 21, 2016 MCDONALD’S ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AWARD SCHOLARSHIP Available to a student who has volunteered service hours at Mathews-Dickey Boys & Girls Club, Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center or Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis. Requirements: Complete application, list activities, awards and honors received.

DUE: MARCH 31, 2016 O’FALLON ROTARY CLUB Available to a student who is an O’Fallon resident. Requirements: Complete application, write an essay, and two letters of reference.

DUE: MARCH 31, 2016 MILLSTADT COMMERCIAL CLUB SCHOLARSHIP ESSAY Available to a student who graduated 8th grade from either Millstadt Consolidated School or St. James in Millstadt. Required: Complete application, and write an essay.

DUE: MARCH 31, 2016 THE SOCIETY OF AMERICAN MILITARY ENGINEERS SCOTT FIELD POST Available to a student who excels in math, science and technical courses and are interested in pursuing degrees in engineering fields of (civil, mechanical, electrical and architectural engineering). Requirements: Complete application, short essays, and transcript.

DUE: APRIL 1, 2016 ROTARY CLUB OF SWANSEA CHAD WOOD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Available to a student who resides in the Village of Swansea, Illinois or who has resided in the Village Swansea for at least three of the five years immediately prior to the application; applicant must have good moral character and a commitment to community service and volunteerism. Requirements: complete application; write an essay, one letter of recommendation.

DUE: April 1, 2016 MATHIS, MARIFIAN & RICHTER, LTD. (LAW SCHOLARSHIP) IF YOU ARE A CHILD OF AN ATTORNEY NOW, YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE! Available to a student from St. Clair, Madison or Washington County High School who is planning a career as an attorney. Must have 3.0 or higher; ACT score of at least 26 or SAT of 1180; ranked in upper 25% of class; involved in school activities such as student government, debate, History club or Model UN. Requirements: Complete application, and write an essay. DUE: APRIL 1, 2016 DR. WILLARD SCRIVNER PUBLIC HEALTH FOUNDATION This is available to a senior who will be pursuing a health-related field of study. Also, senior must be planning on attending an Illinois or Missouri institution. Student must possess academic strength, financial need, service & leadership. Required: Complete application, parent(s) income tax return, essay, and counselor recommendation

DUE: APRIL 5, 2016 TURKEY HILL GRANGE Available to a student pursuing a career in a community service field such as teaching, police or fire work, social welfare, public administration, or medical field, etc.; has a 3.0 GPA or higher. Requirements: Submit a letter to Turkey Hill Grange, 200 word essay, and a counselor endorsement of Turkey Hill Grange letter.

DUE: April 6, 2016 CENTRAL BANK OF ST. LOUIS, MILLSTADT BRANCH Available to a student who LIVES IN THE FOLLOWING TOWNSHIPS ARE ELIGIBLE: MILLSTADT, STOOKEY, FREEBURG AND SMITHTON! LOUIS ARMED FORCES COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS ASSOCIATION Available to a student who is pursuing a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics related degree next year. Requirements: Complete application, write an essay, list activities and Achievements and enclose a transcript.

DUE: April 9, 2016 MILLSTADT OPTIMIST CLUB Available to a graduate of a Millstadt grade school and/or resides within the Millstadt School District Requirements: Complete application, 3 character references, and an essay.

DUE: April 15, 2016 MILLSTADT CHAMBER OF COMMERCE Available to a student who was a graduate of a Millstadt grade school and/or who resides within the Millstadt School District. Requirements: visit www.millstadtchamber.org DUE: APRIL 15, 2016 YOUR HOME TEAM Available to a student who resides in Belleville, Swansea, Fairview Heights, Mascoutah, Shiloh or O’Fallon; has a 3.0 GPA or higher, involved in activities in community and in school.
