Reading Public Schools and Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence Present

The Blueprint for Educational Excellence National Institute April 11 and 12, 2013 Reading Memorial High School

Workshop Proposal Form for 1 Hour and 1.5 Hour Presentations PreK-12 Staff are encouraged to submit workshop proposals to present and share their favorite teaching practices at our Blueprint for Educational Excellence National Institute, which will be held on Thursday, April 11th and Friday, April 12th at Reading Memorial High School. As was the case last year, students will be dismissed early on Thursday to allow all staff to participate in the afternoon portion of the Institute. Our Staff Sharing Institute will be welcoming educators from all over the country, as well as, our own PreK-12 staff. The topics presented at the workshop should correlate with one or more of the nine standards described in the Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence school improvement categories, which are attached to this form. Workshops will last either 1 hour or 1.5 hours and could be in a variety of formats, including a round table discussion, power point presentation, or interactive workshop. A single presenter, co-presenters, or even a team of presenters are encouraged to submit proposals. Handouts will be posted electronically on the Institute wiki for all to access. Any additional handouts needed for the workshop will be copied at central office upon request. Each presenter or team of presenters may be asked to present either on Thursday afternoon or Friday or both days. Staff who present will receive 10 PDPs. Presentations could be formal or informal. Some examples include:  A presentation on a specific special education program in our schools or behavioral health topic  A roundtable discussion on how to differentiate instruction in the classroom and integration of the new Common Core standards  An interactive workshop on technology integration  Sharing of lessons that focus on a particular curriculum program (i.e., Daily Five and Café reading model) Last year, we received tremendous positive feedback on this event, in part because of the quality of teacher led workshops. We encourage teachers who have presented in the past, to present their best practices again. We encourage you to present the teaching practices that work for you. Please complete and return this form to Lori Miller at the Office of Learning and Teaching at [email protected] no later than February 15, 2013. We appreciate your attention to this date as it helps us with planning and promoting the conference.
