TOHS Booster Minutes February 16th, 2016 – Room 1-11

Meeting called to order at 7:06pm

I. MINUTE APPROVAL

A motion was made by Booster Secretary Dawn Safa (and second by Jennifer Rond) to vote to approve the minutes from January 12, 2016. The motion was carried and minutes were voted upon. The voting passed unanimously and the minutes were approved.

II. NEW BUSINESS a. This Weekend’s Competition in La Habra The Soloist will leave Friday evening and the rest of the team leaves Saturday morning. Rochelle received several texts regarding dancers going home from competition with their parents. Here are the names of the dancers: KK, Delaney, Riley, Stacy, Jaz, Payton, Madi, Brenna, Brittany, and Tiffany.

b. Remaining Competition Schedule i. Bus Trip – Escondido, snack bags? No parent drivers needed for this competition. A bus will transport the team to Escondido and back to TOHS the following day. It will be a good competition come on down and cheer for the team! Last year some of the parents got together and prepared surprise snack bags for the dancers to have for the bus ride. The parents met in the HS cafeteria and prepared the bags assembly style a day before competition. There are 20 boys and 24 girls. We would need approximately 10 parent volunteers. The dancers really enjoyed the snack bags last year. Rochelle will send out an email. ii. Nationals – Book Hotels Rochelle mentioned that Debbie Cavanaugh had booked an extra room for Nationals at the Portofino Hotel and wanted to know if anyone would interested in taking it. Jen Givens was interested and will call Debbie for more details. Also, if you are still trying to get a room at the Portofino, don’t give up there are always last minute cancellations.

c. Dancer Donations/Fundraising Rochelle mentioned going to American Idol as a fundraiser. American Idol will pay $25.00 to per person that attends. This would be a fun and easy way to earn money for the team. We would like all the teams to participate. They require 40+ people in order for a bus to be provided. Rochelle mentioned a few dates which all fall on school days. She will get back to us once she has more information. Kelli Finigan also had a good idea for a fundraiser. She recently received a Boys Soccer team flyer in the mail asking for donations to support their team. Kelli suggested we do the same for the Dance Team. We can have Dance Team flyers made and have each dancer mail out at least 10 to friends and family asking for donations to help fund our Dance Team. It was well received in the meeting and Rochelle is going to pass the information on to Christine. It was also suggested that the Dance Team put on their dance uniforms and go to local businesses. Some of the parents volunteered to drive them. Christine will get out information regarding another food fundraiser in March. Rochelle wanted feedback on ordering TOHS Dance Team personalized bleacher chairs. She will have to order them in bulk to get a good rate. She is going to bring it up at the next All Team Boosters meeting in hopes that other teams will be interested in ordering them as well. It would look so nice to have all matching TOHS Dance Team chairs at the competitions, plus they are so much more comfortable than the bleacher seats.

d. Spring Concert is April 14-16 Spring Concert is right after Spring break this year. It’s going to be a little crazy. i. Set-Up April 12th Save the date because it’s going to be all hands on deck. ii. Tech on April 13th It’s going to be a big week so be prepared to help out the whole week. e. Dance Team Banquet – May (TBD) Nancy Gilbert is looking for a banquet venue for our Dance Team Banquet in May. The tentative date is May 21st. We will have approximately 85 people attending. Jennifer & Craig Rond suggested CRPD National Park building, which is a free venue. We would only have to pay a $50.00 set-up charge. We are allowed to cater in our own food as well. Jennifer will look into it further. f. Booster Board for 2016-2017 Nominations for Booster Board positions are in April and Voting in May. The positions include: President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. Also, next month By-Laws can be changed if we have any changes.

III. Murphy Update Murphy wants to express her gratitude to everyone, she is so thankful! Thank you for loading and unloading Prop. Saturday nights we always need help with unloading the Prop back at the High School. The dancers did an amazing job. They have been troopers in spite of all the sicknesses and injuries. USA Camp at CLU is an important camp and is local. The routines the dancers learn there are the ones they will use for the football games. Dance Palooza is fun and the dancers like that one. WCE camp is in Anaheim and is optional. The TOHS Dance Team camp held at the school is two weeks and is very important.
