Active methodologies
Charades – plan and analyse the communication process Photocopies of faces and/or gestures from magazines/newspapers. Students should guess the emotion being expressed
Listening skills
Teacher tells a story/reads short article to the class while 3 - 5 students, (labelled A, B, C, D etc) are positioned or engaged so they cannot hear the story. Student A is recalled and the story is recounted by a member of the class. Then student B is recalled, the story is again re-told, this time student A. Then student C is recalled and the story is this time told by student B, and so on. When the final student recounts the story, a discussion of barriers and aids to listening skills should take place.
