Alexis Adams has been Manager Library Services for Cassowary Coast Libraries since March 2009 and was previously Library Services Co-ordinator for Johnstone Shire Council for six years. Both positions have involved recovery from a Category 5 tropical cyclone.

Lori Bowe is a Senior Project Officer with the Information Services Division of Griffith University. Over the past five years, Lori has been involved in design, development and coordination of refurbishment projects within Griffith’s university libraries and learning centres at Gold Coast, Nathan, Mt Gravatt and South Bank campuses.

Grant Collins is State Library of Queensland’s Manager, Collection Preservation and Disaster Recovery Co-ordinator. He played a key role in managing State Library’s response to the January 2011 Brisbane River floods following long term disaster planning and previously had coordinated response to 20 large and small scale disaster incidents affecting library materials and records.

Kerri Contini, previously Manager of Noosa Library Service was instrumental in the planning, design and implementation of the new state-of-the-art $9.7m Cooroy Library.

Sharan Harvey, Manager Library Services, Brisbane City Council Library Services. Sharan sits on IFLA’s Metropolitan Libraries Committee and has visited libraries throughout the world. She is particularly interested in customer service, trend recognition, growing a love of reading, multiple literacies, process simplification and productivity.

Kevin Hennah has worked closely with libraries since 2002 on strategies to maximise usage and improve presentation and image. His understanding of the operational requirements of libraries is coupled with practical advice that is sensitive to budget restrictions and challenges traditional thinking. Vanessa Little has been the Director Libraries ACT since 2007. Prior to this she was the General Manager, Learning Community with Hume City Council in Melbourne. Vanessa has been guest speaker in Canada, New Zealand, Scotland and throughout Australia on the award winning Hume Global Learning Village program. She has been a Senior Policy Advisor to the South Australian Government in relation to Internet uptake in the community, health, small business and local government sectors; Associate Director of the State Library of South Australia, managing South Australia’s Public Libraries Information Network and was the first woman elected to the National Council of Local Government Managers Australia.

Dayne Mearns is a Principal with Thomson Adsett and has considerable project experience in all facets of architecture and a thorough understanding of library funding, functioning and user requirements.He has spoken on design at library conferences in NSW and Queensland. Dayne has played a key role in many library projects which have received commendations from industry bodies, including Singleton Library (RAIA NSW Country Division Award), Ballina Library & Tourist Information Centre (Cement & Concrete Association Award), Hervey Bay Library & Art Gallery and currently the Grafton Library and the relocation of the Coolangatta Library. http://www.thomsonadsett.com.au/practice/team/dayne-mearns

Ten year’s experience with this firm has seen Conrad involved in all aspects of the design process from brief development, site and master planning through to detail design and documentation. He has had extensive experience in contract administration and the range of alternative project delivery methods including, project and construction management as well as design and construct. He has had a particular interest in the application of Ecologically Sustainable Development principles in the urban design, master planning, educational, and community, commercial and residential projects with which he has been involved.

Marian Morgan-Bindon has a long association with libraries and the information industry. She has significant experience not only in public libraries but also in State Government agencies and the private sector. As Manager Library Services and Cultural Development at Gold Coast City Council, Marian leads one of Australia’s most innovative public library services. She is a strong advocate for public libraries and the role they play in community capacity development and in building strong and resilient communities. She currently serves as a member of IFLA’s Public Library Section.

Louise Schaper, Library Consultant, has a history of organizational transformations and innovations in various library and information services. In 2009 she retired as executive director of the Fayetteville Public Library (Arkansas, US) where she led the transformation of an underperforming library to a vital, heavily used community center for learning. In 2005, the library won the coveted Library of the Year over larger and better-funded libraries. She Ied Library Journal’s New Landmark Libraries project that named the best new U.S. libraries completed since 2005. Janine Schmidt’s background is in leading and managing libraries in Australia and Canada, focusing on client-centred service strategies, cost-effective process improvements, innovative applications of information technology, and refurbishment of physical facilities. Since retiring in 2010 as Emeritus Trenholme Director of Libraries at McGill University, in Montreal, Canada, she has undertaken voluntary professional activities and consultancy services as Director, Mukurta Consulting. Her previous positions include University Librarian at the University of Queensland; Director, Collection Services at the State Library of New South Wales; and Senior Lecturer, School of Information Studies, University of Technology Sydney (formerly Kuring-gai C.A.E.). Janine has published widely and presented at many conferences.

Mark Trotter is a director of Fulton Trotter Architects, which has been responsible for many award winning public and school libraries in rural and regional Queensland and NSW, including the iconic Dogwood Crossing @ Miles project QLD, the Chinchilla Cultural Centre QLD and the Kiama Library NSW.
