General: The Commonwealth established Dell as the vendor to provide laptop computers to all agencies several years ago. As a result of this directive, all laptop computers within DPW should be Dell. Any other brand other than Dell will not be supported by DPW. As a result of technology changes, several different Dell computer models are currently in use within DPW. DPW is not in a position to provide model specific documentation for all of the laptop computers currently in use within the Department.

Guideline: Users that wish to access any Dell manuals should access the Dell website to obtain the most recent information. You will need to have information specific to the laptop available when you access the site, this information may not be limited to the model number. The information available on line include: an installation guide, troubleshooting manuals, product support manuals, driver information and downloads and accessory information.

Refresh Schedule: All guidelines and referenced documentation identified in this standard will be subject to review and possible revision annually or upon request by the DPW Information Technology Standards Team.
