“Special Case for a Long-Term and High-Cost Care” on Health Insurance Act

Patients who need a long-term and high-cost care may be eligible for the medical expense reduction system which is a special case relating to a specified disease within a High-Cost Medical Care Benefit of each health insurance. Eligible patients will be issued a “Tokutei Shippei Ryouyou Jyuryoushou / Medical Care Certificate for the specified disease and treatment”. Once accepted, it will be effective from the first day of the month you applied and the maximum copayment will be 10,000 yen per month. (Please note that the different paying amount will apply depending on the hospital and your patient status, inpatients or outpatients.
