On June 28th & 29th two legendary Grand Masters came to the Northwest to do what each does best and that is to teach Ancient Korean Martial Arts. These two Grand Masters consisted of Sa Ja Nim Rudy Timmerman and Kuk Sah Nim Michael De Alba.

The event was both Hosted and Sponsored by the Flowering Warrior Enterprises/Chief Master Robert J. Ott. The seminars were held at both “The Temple of Certain Victory” and the “Northwest Tang Soo Do Association” that is Owned and Operated by Master Bob Aubrey. Participants of this event came from all different areas of the Country including California, Texas, New Jersey, Canada, Oregon and Washington.

During the time of teaching Sa Ja Nim Rudy Timmerman focused on both the Dan Bong (Short staff) and Gum Sool (Sword techniques while Kuk Sah Nim Michael De Alba shared numerous variations of Yu Sool Makki (Soft style blocking) with counter strikes along with defense against knife (Danto Makki) attacks. Assisting Grand Master Rudy Timmerman was Master Kevin Janisse who demonstrated a beautiful Korean sword form called Yuk Gum Hyung. During the time of stay in the Northwest both the Grand Masters were treated with high respect from all of the participants.

Chief Master Robert J. Ott hired Chef Ashli Crouch to come and cook meals that could only be seen in top notch restaurants. After each seminar the Grand Masters and Masters would travel back to the Ott Family Summer home that was located over looking Summit Lake. This event became a combination of both Martial Art training and a period of togetherness with special people.

Upon the completion of each seminar all of the students received an Official Seminar Certificate along with a signed, sealed and stamped edition of the July 2008 Tae Kwon Do Times Magazine with Chief Master Robert J. Ott on the cover. At the end of both seminars Chief Master Robert J. Ott presented both Grand Masters with an enormous Gold Medal Medallion that displayed the Kidokwan logo that had a black ribbon with written in gold letters the words Certain Victory all the way around it. Following this Sa Ja Nim/Grand Master Rudy Timmerman selected Chief Master Robert J. Ott to become the Washington State Certified Director of the National Korean Martial Arts Association while Kuk Sah Nim/Grand Master Michael De Alba recognized via certification the rank of 6th Dan Black Belt by the International Farang Mu Sul Association.

Over all the event became a success and brought together individuals who live and breathe Korean Martial Arts. Su Suk Sah Bum Nim Ott would like to give Special thanks for the success and support of this event to Grand Master Kenneth P. MacKenzie, Master Kevin Janisse, Master Dr. Sean Bradley, Master Matt Survis, Master Bob Aubrey and Sunbae Jeja (Senior Student) Robyn Goodwin. The final ending of this special weekend came to an award that was presented to the Daughter of Robert and Kimberly Ott. In front of all of the participants Robert and Kimberly awarded 6 year old Savannah Alexis Ott with a 4 foot trophy that recognized her demonstration of a true Warrior. She one month prior to the event witnessed a construction worker burning his hand and with instant reaction ran in to the house grabbed an ice pack and brought it to the Man who gave Savannah a smile that was priceless.
