Reading Bingo

AM PM NAME: ______

READING BINGO

DIRECTIONS:

Reading: Students will complete their personal reading in the classroom and for 30 minutes as nightly homework.

Books must be chapter books (50 pages or more) or on an appropriate reading level to qualify for Reading Bingo. When a student has completed all of the required books for Reading Bingo they may use any other book as their extra books read toward the school goal.

Reflections: When a student has finished reading a book they will complete the reading bingo summary. Students must use correct sentence structure, spelling, and grammar to receive full credit. Students will staple the reflection sheets to the Reading Bingo card and keep them in a page protector in their ELA section of their AVID binder. Students will turn in the entire packet upon the due date. All reflections must still be attached to the Reading Bingo card every turn in date to receive credit.

Bingo Card: In the corresponding box students need to record the title and author of the book, and the date the reflection was completed in the square. Mrs. McDaniels will sign the boxes once she reviews the reflection sheets.

Grading: Each square is 10 points and the grade is cumulative at each due date. If a student does not complete the minimum number of books and reflections by the due date they still need to meet the requirements for the next due date.

Students may read more than the required number of books and complete reflections to have their books count toward their monthly totals in the school wide monthly book goals. However extra books will not reflect in the next due date’s grades as students need to read at least 3 books each grading cycle. See the schedule listed below.
