Infection Control Annual Statement for 2012-2013 3rd September 2013 Purpose This annual statement will be prepared each year in April. It will summarise: Any infection transmission incidents and any action taken (these will have been reported in accordance with our Significant Events Reporting procedures) Details of any infection control audits undertaken and actions taken. Details of any infection control risk assessments undertaken. Details of staff training. review and update of policies, procedures and guidance Background The infection prevention and control lead for Paddington Green Health Centre is Nurse Sarah Alexander. Significant events There were no significant events raised that are related to infection control. Audits An audit of staff training was carried out which revealed that all staff required training. Clinical staff training was prioritised and will be delivered in house by a GP and Nurse. Administrative staff will receive training during 2013 either in-house on via e-learning. Risk Assessments The PCT Infection Control Lead carried out an infection control inspection of the whole premises on 22/1/13; her full report is awaited but the practice noted the following actions. Action Required by Update 3/9/13 Pedal bins for clinical waste in all Essential ASAP Achieved consulting rooms (via Rentokil contract) Sharps boxes –yellow lids (general) Essential ASAP should be in clinical rooms (orange lidded boxes are for phlebotomy waste only). Change disposable curtains every Desirable Annual change agreed. 6m New curtains received and ready to put up. Clean venetian blinds Essential New blinds are being ordered. Record Fridge temperatures daily Essential – practice Achieved and add to intranet nurses Change patient seating to wipeable Desirable As seats need replacing cover this will be achieved
