MINI MONET I & II (4’S & 5’S ONLY) – Monday & Wednesday What is art? How is art made? Who is an artist? Come draw, paint and sculpt as we try to answer these questions about art and explore our inner artist. This class is for children who enjoy being creative using a variety of art media including pastels, watercolors, and found objects. We will begin by looking at art that children are exposed to in their day to day life; art is everywhere! We continue exploring by looking at art basics and wrap up the year with individual masterpieces.

PASSPORTS AROUND THE WORLD (4’S & 5’S ONLY) - Monday & Wednesday Grab (or in this case, make) your passport and travel around the world! We will explore the culture, language, geography, and food of countries in different parts of the world through cooking, art, stories, music and math. We will begin by examining how we get to each place, what we need to pack, what we do when we get there, and how far away we are from home. Through this program, which will run during the second session, children will develop an appreciation and comfort for customs and people from different countries and cultures.

THE POWER OF PLAY The Power of Play provides an opportunity for children to develop socially in a smaller group. We will practice friendship skills and promote socialization through the use of cooperative games, board games, storytelling and sharing time. There will be a focus on developing skills such as taking turns, coping with winning and losing, and practicing communication with peers. This class will encourage children to share feelings and experiences, and work together to problem solve.

MIXED MEDIA ART Art encompasses many ways of creating! Each week we'll explore different mediums and the various effects when you combine them. From watercolors and pastels, to collage and sculpture, we'll learn that artists use many materials to make masterpieces.

We will incorporate other skills such as thinking sequentially, using age appropriate math skills (measuring and counting), recognizing shapes and colors in food items, and nutrition (simplified explanations of how our bodies use food for energy and growth). Your children will take pride in their culinary accomplishments!
