128. SECTION 129A OF THE HIGHWAYS ACT 1980 – SALFORD CITY COUNCIL (MOUNT STREET TO LONG STREET, SWINTON) GATING ORDER 2007
The Assistant Director (Legal) and the Managing Director of Housing Connections Partnership submitted a joint report (a) containing details of an objection and expressions of support received in relation to the proposed Gating Order, together with the comments of the latter and (b) asking the Panel to consider if the Order met the requirements of the Highways Act and, if so, whether, in the light of the objection received, it should be introduced as originally proposed, amended or withdrawn.
RESOLVED: THAT the Salford City Council (Mount Street to Long Street, Swinton) Order 2007, be introduced as originally proposed ; and that the Housing Crime Reduction Team be recommended to give a priority to any applications for Gating Orders for other alleys in the vicinity so as to minimise the possibility of the Order displacing anti-social problems onto other parts of the estate.

The Assistant Director (Legal) and the Managing Director of Housing Connections Partnership submitted a joint report (a) containing details of objections and expressions of support received in relation to the proposed Gating Order, together with the comments of the latter and (b) asking the Panel to consider if the Order met the requirements of the Highways Act and, if so, whether, in the light of the objections received, it should be introduced as originally proposed, amended or withdrawn.
RESOLVED: THAT the Salford City Council (Ashley Crescent, Swinton) Order 2007, be introduced for 12 months after which time the gates be locked open for a period of three months to enable an overall review to be made of the scheme including an assessment of whether the Order has helped to disperse the anti-social behaviour and , to facilitate the latter, efforts be made to schedule the period when the gates are to be open during the summer months .
