Registration forms and contest information for the 2016 State 4-H Horse Bowl Contest on Saturday, May 7, are enclosed. The contest will be held at: Student Union Building, Central Washington University, Ellensburg
The Central Washington University Equestrian Team will be assisting with the facilities and many official positions! Their support is greatly appreciated!
Check-in is at 9-9:30 am; orientation is at 9:30 am, and matches start at 10:00 am. Please do NOT arrive prior to 8:30 am.
The registration fee is $60 per team. Registration forms and fees are due April 15. Checks for team registration for the Horse Bowl Contest are to be made payable to the Washington State 4-H Council and sent to:

Teams are responsible for their own refreshments and lunches,
There are several grocery stores close by the contest location and several fast food restaurants within close driving distance and some food service in the Student Union Building itself.
It is recommended that all participants be familiar with the Washington State 4-H Horse Bowl Rules, which are available online from WSU Extension Publications & Printing, at https://pubs.wsu.edu/ItemDetail.aspx?ProductID=14165
All question sources will be available in each contest room. Included is a list of current references, which are the only sources of questions. Plans are to use "The Judge" Quiz Bowl Equipment with thumb buzzers in the Senior Room and paddles in the Intermediate Room so that there will be a back up set for each room.
Awards will include First and second place teams will receive 4-H Horse Bowl patches, provided by Washington State 4-H. Team Rosettes to teams placing up to 5th place* Individual Top Ten Rosettes* Participation Rosettes to all unplaced teams* Individual Medals for the top 3 individuals in each Division (Intermediate and Senior) sponsored by Snohomish County 4-H Horse Program. *Rosettes supported through team entry fees
The Champion Senior Team will represent our State at the National 4-H Contest in Kentucky in November. Nationals does limit participation to members who are at least 14 years of age, but not have reached his or her 19th birthday as of January 1 of the year in which this event is held. FROM SPOKANE: Take I-90 West to Ellensburg, exit #109. Make a right off the exit ramp and follow Canyon Road/Main Street to University Way. Turn right on University Way and drive four blocks. CWU is on the left (parking lots are starred below). Horse Bowl Registration will be in the Student Union and Recreation Center (see circled building on the map) To get to parking lot J8 take a left on “D” Street. To get to all other parking lots take a left on Chestnut Street.
FROM YAKIMA/TRI-CITIES: Take I-82 North to I-90 West. Take the first exit #109. Make a right off the exit ramp and follow Canyon Road/Main Street to University Way.
