ITEM 6: STATEMENT OF THE PURPOSE OF THE CORPORATION

The Purposes of the corporation are:

1. to promote the interests and activities of the members in the field of Rheumatology;

2. to provide a forum for the discussion of issues of importance or interest to the members in the field of Rheumatology;

3. to encourage and promote ethical behaviour among the members;

4. to improve the standards of practice and qualifications of the members;

5. to provide training programmes and skills upgrading programmes for members;

6. to organize and promote professional development opportunities for members;

7. to share information and opinions for the mutual benefit of the members;

8. to prepare reports, studies, submissions and other documentation with respect to matters of importance to the members;

9. to represent the members and to advocate the position of the organization before administrative tribunals, municipal government, provincial ministries, federal departments and their agencies;

10. for such other complementary purposes that are not inconsistent with these objects.

ITEM 10: ADDITIONAL PROVISIONS

11. The corporation shall be carried on without the purpose of gain for its members, and any profits or other accretions to the corporation shall be used in furtherance of its purposes.

12. Directors may appoint one or more additional directors, who shall hold office for a term expiring not later than the close of the next annual meeting of members, provided that the total number of directors so appointed may not exceed one third of the number of directors elected at the previous annual.

13. Meetings of members may be held in such place in Canada or outside Canada as determined by the directors from time to time.
