Backcountry Horsemen of California – San Diego Spring Service Weekend - May 5th thru 8th, 2016 Los Vaqueros Horse Camp at Cuyamaca State Park

A few trail workers from previous years

Come to the beautiful San Diego Mountains the first weekend in May and help make a difference. BCHC-SD will again be hosting a service weekend in Cuyamaca Rancho State Park. You can arrive at camp on Thursday, 5 May after 2pm and camp until Sunday, 8 May with our day of service being on Saturday 7 May. This is a group horse camp with 45 corrals, picnic tables, large group fire ring, BBQ grills, a gazebo, and a bathroom building with hot water shows and flush toilets. State Parks provides us the 4 days of camping at no cost in exchange for our day of service. What a deal ! ! This service weekend if open to equestrian and non equestrians alike, all interested persons are welcome.

There is a large paved area for trailer parking and a grassy area for tent campers. You don’t have to have a horse to join this service weekend. Trail work will be done on foot. We have a limited number of “in camp” work for those who are not able to hoof it out on trail. Everyone works at their own pace, safety first. The unit has a variety of trail tools you can use or you can bring your own in addition to gloves, hat, sun screen and trail water/snacks. Evenings we usually gather at the BBQ grills and camp fire for shared meals, beverages and lots of laughs. Share your best camp story.

Plan to sign up and reserve your space soon as space is limited, please let me know the number of corrals you will need. All stock needs to be in a corral, no high lines or tying to trailers in State Parks.
