Bensalem Community Aquatics Program

Bensalem Community Aquatics Program Daniel Szymanski- Aquatics Program Coordinator Kellie McCarthy - Aquatics Program Assistant Coordinator Shafer Middle School Phone 215-750-2800 ext. 2203 Email: [email protected] Welcome and we hope you enjoy our program! Here is some information to help you understand our rules and regulations so we can run a safe and educational program. Your instructors are juniors, seniors or college students who attended Bensalem High School or other local schools. All instructors are certified lifeguards and most have an American Red Cross Water Safety certification. *Please note that there are a limited number of spaces in each class and registration is first come, first serve * At the beginning of the first class, your child will be tested to determine their skill level. There may be some movement during the first few classes either up or down a level. At the end of each session every student will receive a certificate and checklist for participation. This will enable your child to move to the next level. Bathrooms - There are men’s and ladies rooms located in the hallway. These can be used for dressing your children as well as for your use. We have had many complaints of boys dressing in the girl’s room, please use good judgment! No deck changing!

- Do not let your children enter the pool until their instructor permits them. - All children that are not potty trained MUST wear disposable swim pants. - Parents are asked to help prevent accidents by keeping their children from running or playing on the pool deck, in the halls and in the locker rooms. Parents are responsible for their children’s behavior on the pool deck, in the hallways and in the locker rooms. Any child caught running on the pool deck will first receive a verbal warning, second offence will receive a “time out” and a third warning will result in a dismissal from the pool for the rest of the day. - Please inform your child's instructor if there are any medical or physical problems. E.g... Breathing problems, vision, hearing etc. - Swimmers swim at their own risk. Everyone should have his or her own hospital coverage in case of injury. - There is a lost and found box on the pool deck. We will make an effort to pick up your children's mislaid articles but pool staff is not responsible for loss valuables. - Closing ~ We will do our best to make up any class that is canceled due to the schools being closed. We will call the number listed on your registration sheet if any class is canceled. Please note, days that the schools are already closed are already inputted into our schedule. - Parents are asked to remain seated, we do not want people walking on the pool deck in street shoes or hovering over classes. - Moms and Dads are asked to remain out of the opposite sex’s bathroom. - Please do not interrupt classes in session. - Parents are reminded that taking a course does not mean that your child has passed that course. Please do not sign your child up for advanced courses unless they have passed classes leading up to those levels. If you feel your child is in the wrong level class, please wait until the beginning or the end of the class to approach the instructor or a coordinator. - As the session goes on, we encourage the parents to talk with your child’s instructor. - Please do not take it upon yourself to put your child in another level. - Refunds - Refunds will only be granted on the first night/day of swim lessons. A credit can be issued, in certain circumstances. A credit will not be issued if a student has attended 50% of the session or more. A request has to be made by the end of the current session or a credit will not be issued. -The Bensalem Township Aquatics Program is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please do not leave any valuable items unattended. Lockers are provided and you may use a lock-however it does need to be removed at the end of your swim lesson. Locks still in use at the end of the night will be removed by the Shafer Middle School staff.
